Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion

Do not even bother with BOL for flares, I run a split internally for the DASS

Id just run pure flares on the 64 Large CMs, then run the BOL has chaff.

Never had much of an issue with defeating IR missiles that I’ve been able to react to in time, but its a good idea to not sit on AB when defending as well. Its a lot of thrust and so a lot of heat

I run a split on the BOL and pure flares for large caliber CM’s. I like to pre-flare in dogfights, its one of the only real reliable ways to deal with some missiles when the range gets close enough, and good practice for 5th gen IIR missiles imo.

Yeah, perhaps, just annoys me that I never know what flare is being dropped if I do that. Do i need to be dropping a burst of 2-4 twice as often ,or just the 1.

Wont be as big of a problem when BOL is fixed and hopefully that will occur before Gen 5s.

I also like just having a massive reserve of chaff that I can drop in heavy bursts (just wish I didnt need to drop heavy bursts ,but still, probably wouldnt change that even if it was fixed)

Pretty sure it uses up all BOL before internal ones.

gaijin love to nerf eurofighter… engine, flight model… and explain u why is not best cas plane because brimstne not realictic…!!! u need to kep lock on target so with one turn one target destroyed vs others … su34,rafale, tohers fire all missile in 15 sec in diferent target"fire and forget missile" and fly to airfield and spaas no have chance to intercept it but with eurofighter u need to turn and turn for seart the targets and spaas have more time to destroy u… so GAIJIN u love to nerf eurofighter air battle capabilities make realisatic in ground battle! for this reason nerfed leopard2 2x time abrams ,… but what is good in reality in warthunder not same!! “buff brimstone”

because i couldnt understand what you were talking about, I asked deepseek to make it comprhensive and here is the result:

Gaijin Entertainment’s persistent adjustments to the Eurofighter Typhoon—particularly its engine performance, flight model, and weapons systems—have significantly undermined its viability as a competitive Close Air Support (CAS) aircraft in War Thunder. The current implementation of the Brimstone missiles is a critical issue, as their mechanics deviate from realism and practicality. Unlike contemporary multirole fighters such as the Su-34 or Rafale, which employ fire-and-forstand missiles (e.g., KH-29/KH-38 or AASM Hammer), the Eurofighter requires players to maintain continuous laser lock on a single target until impact. This forces the aircraft into prolonged, vulnerable orbits over the battlefield, exposing it to threats like SPAAGs (Self-Propelled Anti-Aircraft Guns) or SAMs. Meanwhile, competing aircraft can ripple-fire multiple guided munitions across dispersed targets within seconds, then disengage safely—a tactical flexibility the Eurofighter lacks.

The disparity grows starker in combined ground battles: while the Su-34 or Rafale can strike 4-6 targets in 15 seconds and retreat to rearm, the Eurofighter’s need to loiter for sequential targeting renders it an easy mark for air defenses. This undermines both historical accuracy and gameplay balance. In reality, the Brimstone missile is designed for autonomous, fire-and-forstand engagement using millimeter-wave radar seekers, capable of striking multiple moving targets without requiring constant laser guidance. Its in-game portrayal as a laser-only weapon ignores this functionality, stripping the Eurofighter of its real-world advantage.

This pattern of disproportionately nerfing Western vehicles—such as the repeated adjustments to the Leopard 2 and M1 Abrams armor values, despite their historical combat performance—suggests a bias that harms gameplay diversity. If Gaijin prioritizes realism, the Eurofighter’s Brimstones should be reworked to reflect their actual fire-and-forstand capabilities, and its flight performance should align with documented specifications. Until then, the Typhoon remains unnecessarily handicapped in both air-to-air and ground attack roles, reducing its utility compared to peers.

Call to Action:

  1. Buff Brimstone missiles to operate as autonomous, multi-target fire-and-forstand weapons.
  2. Adjust the Eurofighter’s flight/engine model to match real-world performance data.
  3. Reevaluate balance practices to ensure historically accurate vehicles aren’t arbitrarily weakened.

The community seeks parity between realism and enjoyable gameplay—not inconsistent nerfs that alienate players invested in authentic experiences.

So true.

The MAW sensor fusion is just a lie, the dass will shoot off chaff at rwr but as soon as the missile is detected by the MAW it will still just shoot off flares even though it should know it’s trying to defeat a radar missile.
So taking just 64 Large IR is basically useless if using MAW, because you’ll just waste them defending.

Nothing properly works on the Eurofighter

Mig15s are stealth fighters don’t you know.

@Gunjob I quickly looked into Brimstones and I maintain my position: Brimstones do not possess an automatic target recognition algorithm which is capable of identifying targets; rather, target identification is achieved via a man-in-the-loop capability:

Anyway, I don’t care enough to argue. I just came here to tell you that I noticed that the launch angles for Brimstones are ever-so-slightly too large:

Would you be so kind as to please pass this report: Community Bug Reporting System

I think you’ll find the source is sufficient:

That’s in reference to using the SAL mode, ie you need to 100% confirm what you are shooting at, things like a specific individual in a vehicle etc where legal restrictions prevent the use of FnF weapons. The same kind of restrictions were in place for things like ALARM, where legal would need to sign off on launches as once the missile is away its guiding on its own.

Launch angle =/= guidance angle, you need to demonstrate it exceeding that launch angle.

Can’t be bothered. I’ll refer to the datamine for the time being.

Data mine values are not accept for reports.

No worries though, someone else did the effort;

Cheers for the source.
