Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion

ASRAAM does have the benefit of being blisteringly fast compared to pretty much every other missile.

Here’s IRIS-T on Typhoon DA.2 (the British development aircraft). Probably the closest you will see to IRIS-T on a British Typhoon. As others have said, the British Typhoons probably are able to use IRIS-T but they don’t, because Britain considers ASRAAM to be better…

I hope UK Eurofighter remains the only Eurofighter variant to carry ASRAAM. Giving Italy ASRAAM would be messy.

I do to. But only because the idea of a Typhoon having BOTH ASRAAM and IRIS-T equipped at the same time is a bloody scary thought. That Typhoon instantly becomes THE meta

I agree, Vice-Versa too.

Better to keep the Eurofighter’s somewhat unique between the nations, though Italian and German ones will effectively be the same bar the PIRATE.

The question is gunna be Tranche 2 Air-to-Ground loadout options I think

I have a picture of a german Eurofighter showing of brimstones in 2009 just not sure to with tranche that would count

they’re getting integrated anyways, no need to use a pic from 2009

u know gajin, the variant we are adding has no proof of using brimstone blah blah blah, thats why we cant add it to this one. You will have to wait until a later variant to get access to them

i dont think it gets more reputable than this

yeah, but we would only get access to the newest tranche onwards, and not from likle tranche 2 onwards

Honestly, Eurofighter integration into WT is gonna be interesting.

From what I understand, theres little reason to believe all their weapons are not predominantly interchangeable across all 3 nations. Theres also the question of PIRATE, and the AMK kit. Germany doesnt typically mount PIRATE, but has them, and can mount them anytime they want. Germany is also the only nation (afaik) that uses AMK.

I’ve seen many players from each nation argue regarding what each nations EF2000’s should and shouldnt get, and it doesnt seem anyone can quite agree.

Some players want their nations Eurofighter to be “unique”, and refuse the idea of stuff like Germany getting PIRATE, or Britain/Italy getting AMK, or X nations getting Y weapon on Z-Tranche “unless visual evidence of them using Y on Z is provided”. Other players want maximum interchangeability, and many hypocrites stand in the middle, drawing the line of which nations eurofighter gets what at whatever is most advantageous for their own nation and most detrimental to the other nations eurofighters, such as British players saying they should get AMK, but Germany shouldn’t get PIRATE, and German players vice-versa.

I think regardless of what gaijin decides on, there’s gonna be players whining about it.

There’s also the whole interesting discussion regarding IRIS-T vs ASRAAM, with each nations players ascertain their own nations Fox-2 is “the clear superior option”, but no clear details beyond some guesstimations and some claims from either party with limited actual evidence.

uses isnt quite right, AMK isnt in use by any country yet. Germany is the only one that tested it yet

My bad, thanks for the correction

Germany doesn’t use AMK (no one does currently). Eurofighter GmbH privately developed and tested it on one of the German aircraft (IPA7) though, so that does give Germany a bit more of a claim to it than the other nations.

Though being a private development (IIRC) it’s in an interesting place.

yeah thats why i often name the IPA 7 as the current best possible german typhoon version, we have official pictures of it with brimstones and PIRATE equipped. That being said i do not know if it has the AMK kit equipped here, honestly i dont know how it even looks

Edit: After looking a bit closer i now know how the AMK kit looks like, seems intresting. Honestly would be a YAK 141 case, of what it possibly can get.

Yeah, point still stands though “who will get what, when, and how”. Theres also the question of theoretical loadouts that have no actual pictures of, such as the 14 Meteor Eurofighter:

Or the “18 Brimstone” loadout that was apparently on the Eurofighter website in the past:

The argument I’ve seen for both not being seen irl being “its excessive for any combat missions currently carried out”, which makes sense, but leaves us in the awkward predicament of possible capabilities vs visually identified ones.

This is a particularly tricky topic imo because some of these loadouts that are (afaik) technically possible, would be highly advantageous in WT (14 BVRAAM’s like Meteor would be devastating, 18 Brimstone would have the jets exceed the PGM capabilities of helicopters), and gaijin has (and continues to) omit some loadouts, such as 12 PARS 3 for the UHT, or outer pylon rocket pods with no real explanation despite there being images of those loadouts irl.

yeahhh, that ones not possible realy, would be way to heavy.
The AMK kit would make it more possible since it increases maximum take off load as well.
But most likely that loadout wont happen no matter real life or war thunder

I’m thinking they should keep ASRAAM and IRIS-T separate only because the ability to take both at the same time opens up one hell of a can of worms.

A2G I hope they add some uniqueness (like maybe Taurus Vs storm shadow) but not to the detrimiant of the TT, so something like Brimstone should probably end up on all TTs

Im gonna have to give a big ol’ “X to doubt” on the claim 14 meteors would be “too heavy”… The hardpoint capacity of the Eurofighter is 9000kg, and each Meteor is 190kg (14 x 190kg = 2660kg) toss on the 2 fox 2’s (~88kg x2 = 156kg) and the rails would need to weight a combined total of 6184kg, which would be insane.

Idk where the idea Meteor is a “heavy” missile came from. It has a similar form factor and weight to AMRAAM.
