Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion

OSF has an aspect ratio of 4:3 meaning it should have a better FOV.
PIRATE has an aspect ratio of 4.3 meaning it should have a worse FOV.

Seems possible, expecially considering that, while we do not know what the scan zone of the PIRATE is in that example, the targets are updated roughly once a second

Who would have thought that FOV and GIMBAL are two different things

Someone not hatebonering? Tis what it tis

Any idea what the IFOV is in game currently?

The NFOV of the PIRATE thermal camera is moved around the entire field of search.

It shouldn’t be able to simultaneously track multiple targets within the entire field of regard. Only within the field of view.

Not sure what you think “while searching” means.

Buddy, at least cite an actual source and not a bug report lmao

Ask flame for that one.

Doesn’t seem too surprising now

Yes, Eurofighter uses obsolete technology. Certainly unsurprising.

not like you cited any

Don’t worry I already have the source.

It can update the bearing position of multiple targets within the field of search in MTT mode with a 6-8 second latency. But not accurately continuously track them.

As far as I know it functions like a TWS radar. The very small IFOV is scanned over the field of regard and each time it passes over a target the track for that target is updated.

“6-8 second”

Please provide a source for your numbers.

Yes, but it cannot continuously track the targets whilst searching the emtire field of search. It can only update the bearing of the targets every few seconds.

Nobody said it could continuously track the entire field of search.

I think you did, bud:

Quote precisely where I said the track was continuous.

No, “Simultaneous” does not count. That means it can simultaneously store the track data of 200 targets. If it were not simultaneous it would be a standard search.

That’s not a 6 second update delay. that’s a 6 second delay before being added as a track from initial detection.
