Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion

Honestly, IR missiles are still safer than ARHs, which I sometimes forget. With IR, the FOV is at least somewhat small. But with ARHs, the FOV is like 15 degrees.

What the “”AoA limiter”” appears to do, speaking from experience so far, isn’t actually removing AoA limits like it does on other jets. The limits are still there: you can feel them at high alpha when the jet says “absolutely bloody not” and slams your nose back down the moment you pass about 35 degrees. What it does appear to do is put the gain on your mouse controls through the roof. Unlike the Su-30, and the F-18, which seem to behave normally with the limiter disabled, the eurofighter just slams your controls everywhere. It’s not like any limits have been removed; you’ve still got an unexplained hard wall at 12G and 35-40 alpha. The consequence of this is to practically no performance gain, you lose precision. Incredibly lazy implementation if I am correct about this, and if I’m not then I’d like to know how a “disabled limiter”… fails to disable the limits.

Well you see it’s actually not a AOA limit toggle it’s a maneuver mode.

Ah of course. My error. That explains why it tries to perform every manoeuvre at once uncommanded.

Yeah i’m sure that’s what gaijin intended anyway.

DL doesnt work when the missiles seeker has a lock on something iirc. You should never fire a missile toawards where teammates are.

The way DL works ingame is that if the missile seeker loses the lock, the plane keeps updating the missile with the latest info about the enemy aircraft until the seeker hopefully reaquires.

This is why the r27er is nice, you can switch targets, however it rarely comes into play

Further testing. the drag at high alpha is genuinely absurd.

Twenty eight THOUSAND kilograms of force at 500kph at 27 degrees. AoA limiter on. No wonder the eurofighter is suddenly falling out of the sky 2-3 turns in.

If only they had a means to test this offline before they added it to the live server…

I’d like to additionally point out that following The Drag Equation, the drag coefficient for the wing under these conditions is just barely under 6.6. For reference, a cube at mach 1.5 has a drag coefficient of 1.7.

Check the replay in sensor view.

You will see which target your missile was locked onto when it fired, and if it immediately locked onto the friendly, which can and does happen, or if the target notched and the missile switched targets mid flight.

As others have said, datalink is only used for long range shots. At 18km or so, the missile will switch to its own radar. It doesn’t know the difference between allies and enemies.

IFF kicked in

After Mach 1, Eurofighter turns like a tornado. Why Gaijin???

does it lose speed btw? if not - fine
tbh you still can use it as BVR fighter… with easy multipath and notching… so no BVR…

It loses massive amounts of speed and then cannot regain any energy if you go above a certain AOA.

It appears that once you reach a critical AOA you lose the majority of the thrust output of the engines, and this can only be corrected by reducing your AOA below the critical angle.

However, you will lose so much airspeed so fast, that you basically have to stop turning at all to correct it.

sounds funny

when you turn it doesnt lose a lot of speed at around mach .9- 1.1
but if you go 1.3 and turn it just dumps the speed very quickly

and also no more than 10G if you’re unlucky

And full controls in a turn at mach 1 doesn’t do anything anymore. It no longer pulls extra

So will anyone report anything about the new radar issues or about the flight model that got nerfed maybe too much?
I can’t because I don’t have any proof but I did a game in air sim and my radar on TWS mode couldn’t see any aircraft going opposite from me and about the maneuvrability looks changed a bit and maybe it’s worse
But the speed at high altitude it’s improved at least
I play the F-2000A, should be the same as FGR.4

pretty sure everything that could be reported about the FM has been reported and gaijins response was just nerfing the plane regardless of outstanding accepted bug reports that it was underperforming prior to said nerf.

I wouldnt bother thinking the plane will ever be modelled right anymore, this is just how gaijin wants it to be for some reason.
