In game you can already use AMRAAMs and Sidewinders to shoot down enemy missiles, so while IRIS-T will probably be better at it (due to better maneuverability) I doubt it will be a unique selling point.

I mean, I could be misinterpreting it, but what my understanding/belief is from the info Ive read on it is that when used in that secondary role, the IRIS-T offers a quasi-automated hard kill APS in a spherical zone around the aircraft.

I could be completely wrong tho and its just manually slaving IRIS-T’s vs incoming missiles tho. Could also be a situation where Dhiel is discussing a feature that is common across missiles, but just not stated, or it could be an issue with the ASRAAM specifically, like its proximity fuze and guidance controller or juzt even its turn radius. A laser proximity fuze and PID (not sure if thats what ASRAAM uses, but I havent seen it stated otherwise) controller would be more than sufficient for an aircraft size threat to be intercepted, but may not cut it vs a small and fast threat like an AAM, particularly incoming from somewhere like the rear hemisphere. For example, at M4.0, 10km alt, a 50g turn would have an approximate radius of 2936m, which probs wont cut it for missile interception.

As for the comment about already being able to do so in-game, that is true, but its a lil finnicky imo, and requires manual targetting, which only really works if you or your radar know the incoming missiles location precisely. Considering Gunjobs older post about system tracks and HMD displays, Id argue incoming missiles should be displayed on the HMD, but seeing as thats not a thing atm in-game, it is objectively harder to manually perform. It also doeant always seem to work, mostly working when I dont want it to, and not working when i need it to.

So, the CAPTOR-M with PIRATE is back back to 20 targets, but I cant see an change on the German Eurofighter since it uses an CAPTOR-M (no Pirate) was it even effected from the 20 → 10 Targets?

No, uk_captor_m wasn’t impacted by that bug, only uk_captor_m_pirate.

Ah okay, cant wait to download the update

So what’s the state of things? EF nerfed for no reason, Rafaello buffed for no reason/ Missle count is the same for EF/EF Radar still sucks/ And we got another CAS monster for soviets without any proper counters. Is this an accurate summary of this update?

  • RWR/MAWS Sensor Fusion
  • MAWS Missile Impact displayed in real time
  • MAWS improved reliability
  • MAWS No longer trigger on Flares
  • CAPTOR-M NCTR for 51 target types.
  • Funny cobra button
  • Pantsir S1 Launch/Track now ID/Detected by DASS
  • CAPTOR-M Scan Speed increased to 70°/s

The “Mk.18” model got replaced with a UK 1000lb Paveway II instead of the GBU-12 model
Sadly they’re still not Enhanced PWIIs for a proper GBU-48 analogue, but at least they’re British bombs

Sounds good. Reading patchnotes. Ka-52 got the same sensor fusion mechanic. Just lol.
EF is now locked to 12g in high-speed manuevers. Nothing about rafael being locked in the same manner.

iirc it’s not locked it was lowered from 13 to 12G generated by the wings. Canards allow it to generate more going off the datamine from when the change was first mentioned

Which is good since this will prevent random wings ripping more often.

Well after a quick test flight

The radar is maybe slightly improved with regards to picking up tracks - but still feels very buggy, ghost tracks and track boxes drifting off - it still feels like the radar logic is very stupid and it cannot accurately predict where are a target is going in TWS

Flight model - RIP Typhoon UFO - low speed isnt as silly as it was before, the cobra button just makes it feel like it played pre update
High speed pull is decreased, but not too bad

The radar is still kinda poo but maybe thats a test flight shootingatmig15sism

According to Stona uptade is not live yet, therefore EFT’s buff might not be implemented.

People also reporting that Aim-7P causing game crashes so it make sense that Uptade hasnt been dropped officially yet.
