Because of the Stringent requirements of the contract, exhaustive (and expensive) Quality Control & standards certification needs to be performed at nearly every step of production for all items and assemblies and only the best selected to for the next steps (also repeated small production numbers tend to really pump unit cost). To ensure it does not become an issue for the end user and as such basically everything costs 20X as much as it would acquiring the same item commercially.
Also because Cost tends not to really be that much of an issue when Governments want to to not be.

btw @Gunjob do you have any idea if the EFT’s DASS display not identifying the EFT and Rafale like the in-game HUD RWR display does is internally bug reported? I know the Rafale has a similar issue thats been bug reported but not sure if the devs know this is also an issue with the Typhoon’s RWR MFD.
There was also this bug report with missing MFD’s for the EFT but it seems the creator themself closed the bug report. I might try to revive it since there’s some good stuff in the report, such as the radar profile MFD which is currently missing in-game.

Also Su-33 and I think maybe J-10s? just showing up as “?” on the RWR.
I only have the german EFT so I’ve never seen either of those on my RWR, but could be possible. I just know for a fact the MFD RWR and ingame RWR dont display the same threats.

Scan speed has been internally corrected per the report. So it’s possible it will appear in a future update.

I see, I’ll wait a little longer. It’s unfortunate that it wasn’t fixed during the complete overhaul of the radar last time.

I find it incredibly weird that the typhoon FGR.4 is supposedly 65 (or 70) degrees per second, while the tornado, a several decade older jet, is 160?
Tornado is wrong it was accidentally doubled when the scan patterns were updated. I’m popping in a report this weekend. Should only be 80 degrees per second.
