Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion

thats too general, id consider a sopwith camel a plane next to an SR-71, but i wouldnt call the rafale or EFT stealth fighters next to an F-22 or F-35, same way you wouldnt call said ford focus a performance car next to a viper ACR or C6 corvette

If it was designed with a stealth feature in mind no matter how limited its still got stealth as a feature.

at that point, just put a lip spoiler on every car and call them all performance cars, there is a threshold before it is true stealth and not just slightly lower observable

Add the Audi Quatro in game, slap some stingers on that bad boy and let me rip round the battle drifting round all the enemies.

Alas, I’m of the Subaru v Mitsubishi playground punch-up generation.

I was a diehard Subaru fan - the amount of school-fights over which marque was the true rally car of all time were quite something.

dont tell audi

Why, they gonna ask “audi do that?”

You can prohibit the use of some weapons in some of the game modes. It’s terribly unfair that they took away my tool just so that another player wouldn’t offend another player IN ANOTHER GAME MODE. This is just ridiculous.

“Passive ranging data also available.”
I’m just curious. What data set is needed to launch an AMRAAM? Or rather, not so. What CAN’T an optical station provide, unlike a radar?
They have absolutely the same data set - distance to the target and deviation of the target from the aircraft axis. The same three-dimensional determination of the target’s position relative to the aircraft. Data transmission to the missile is possible via the same datalink channel.
This is literally work with wave reception. Only radar works with three-centimeter waves, and PIRAT - with waves less than a millimeter.
No source, opinion only

datalink information isn’t sent through IR emissions

Radar is active. You know when you sent the wave and can meassure the time it took to and from the target (ranging).
On a passive sensor, like the IRST (or a passive radar receiver), you don’t know when the wave started traveling before reaching the sensor so you can’t estimate the range. You only have the position and changing angle over time relative your the aircraft as an indicator. To meassure the range you have to use different techniques e.g. meassuring the intensity and/or size of the detected emission (which is highly unreliable as LPI modes distort this method).
The PIRATE uses something called “streaming vectors” to estimate distances and movement directions of targets.

Well, I didn’t talk about transmitting information via IR emission. I meant using the same antenna for this as when transmitting information to a missile from a radar. I don’t think you need to turn on the radar in search mode for this.

I operate on what I saw

One thing we can agrea on is that the IRST can guide asraams, correct? Because without this were assuming the seeker on the asraam can lock targets out at its max range? I may be a fan boy but even i think thats skepticle, and were not going to go so much into ir missiles just for it to require radar guidance to use effectively (i would hope). So the only assumption left would be that the IRST can give rough guidance for the asraam, correct? And if it can give rough guidance for the asraam then it should be able to give guidance to the amraam. Maybe they never bothered adding this due to it being somewhat pointless when you have a radar and their radar missiles, but it should be POSSIBLE is the main point we should be getting from this.

So, we should be asking if the capability was added rather than if its possible as its pretty obvious the IRST can guide in missiles otherwise we would be calling the makers of the typhoon and asraam incompetent if i could figure out a major problem with our most advanced missile and jet in a couple seconds.

They also are not stabilized pictures.

Which is pretty incredible given how long TGPs have been in-game.

amazing

I didn’t say the PIRATE couldn’t meassure distances. I said based on only the waves it cannot meassure distances, as PIRATE uses “streaming vectors” to meassure distance and movement directions of targets (which isn’t wave based). You were talking about waves in the part I quoted.

are memes truly not allowed? how else will we get our intentions out without such basic methods?

I have deleted it, because I do not want to be banned until 3025

its still on my Youtube channel tho :P
