I have nout found anything stating they are, but do we have something stating they arent? Typhoon already flies AESA in its ESM/ECM systems, so why not here.
Then how do the sensors in the wing root work? I doubt that there can be a radar like the one in the nose. Even if it is greatly reduced. AESA/PESA looks the most logical option.
There can also be an AESA/PESA in the tail, placed on a cylinder. Thus, the tail sensor can cover even more than 180 degrees and close the dead zones of the emitters in the wing root.
Bear in mind you are dealing with a poster who has a history of spouting questionable assertions - especially when it comes to Typhoon.

Some updates on the outstanding Eurofighter reports:
Radar modes - GMTI will be added in the future. LPRF is used in target acquisition mode automation.
Scan speed - An internal report suggesting it should be 70 degrees per second will be reviewed and actioned.
Concerning reports of “ghost” targets, the devs are investigating this, however it appears to be a complex matter that requires deeper review. More clogs/ examples on the original report are most welcome.
Data Adaptive Scanning (Priority Track) - This functionality currently does not exist in game yet, however the devs will review the data further.
PIRATE IRST range - There was a problem with an incorrect scanning pattern, this has now been fixed. The overall problem of IRST not working above 30km is a slightly deeper IRST wide (not EFT specific) issue under further review.
DASS functioning on IR detection rather than PD - Currently all MAWS operate via IR means. The functionality for PD / Radar sensor does not currently exist, but will be studied further in the future, and its possible it may come.
All good (no sarcasm). Any reports raised so far on occasionally not being able to lock/fire AMRAAMs despite having a hard lock. It’s happened twice now in different radar modes. HMD PD and TWS TRK if I recall correctly.
The first time it got me killed. The second time I switched weapons and then turned the radar on and off until the accursed thing would actually let me shoot.

This report is also under review, however we don’t have anything conclusive to report at this present moment in time unfortunately.
As well as the auto switch to IRST issue.
PIRATE is a IIR system, so it does a continous scan all over the FOV. I guess we have to deal with the current one for a while tho.

At the moment PIRATE camera works simply as a built-in container and does not interact with IRST in any way.
If this cannot be implemented a tempoary increase in scan speed should be applied to “mimmic” the effect
At a bare minimum, it needs to be set to filter flares if its stuck with UV for years

Scan speed is a separate matter mentioned above, with a report to increase it to 70 degrees per second. The highest number currently supported by validated sources.
But priority track enables the radar to make snap jumps to keep targets tracked with sources suggesting the radar pedastal can move up to speeds of 333°/sec. If this functionality cannot be introduced due to game limitations, then a placeholder buff should be applied to maintain the performance of the radar. Currently, it is not CAPTOR-M. It is instead Blue Vixen and that is a woefully underperforming radar vs AESA radars.
To maintain competitiveness, if game limitations prevent the CAPTOR-M from being added to the game, then either CAPTOR-E needs to be added or the Blue Vixen needs a temporary scan rate buff to enable it to better represent the capabilities of CAPTOR-M.
The ESA radars in game have the feature, where they update the target of TWS very frequently, even if not within the current search zone. This could be introduced as the stop gap, as it is basically the same system.

If we consider only the speed on one bar - then Tornado will be faster even after this… “buff”. But to scan the entire sector Tornado will need more time. There are 6 bars of 60 degrees, and Typhoon only 4.I wonder what documents were used in the internal report.
According to my rough estimates, the speed should be about one and a half times higher than Tomcat, but this estimate is based on the “life” time of the contact of 8 s. As I was explained, this is a variable value. Either the IRL Typhoon stores the contact in memory for a very long time, or the speed should be about one and a half times higher minimum.
