Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion

I have a question about the LWR. Does it work in all laser radiation ranges? That is, any laser beam hitting the Typhoon triggers this system? For example, IRST on anti-aircraft systems or in IRST with a laser rangefinder, like on the Su-27? Or only in some specific ranges?
I did not have the opportunity to test this in the game, but if it does not trigger on IRST with rangefinders or TGP, then in theory this should be reported?

In theory it should. Gaijin doesnt model lasers having different intensities and so in theory any laser should trigger the LWR

Calculated from radar dome size and used frequeny the range of the MAWS PD-Radar is assumed to be as followed (no source as these are assumptions based on calculations):

  • MANPADS (0,01 m²) → 11 km
  • Air-to-Air missile (0,1 m²) → 20 km
  • Small fighter plane (2,5 m²) → 44 km
  • Big fighter plane (25 m²) → 78 km

For PIMAWS (IR-based missile detection) it is the following (Source):

  • Stinger (UV/IR) → Burning >6 km, Burnt out >3 km
  • Mistral (IR) → Burning 6,5 km, Burnt out 5,5 km
  • 9K32 Strela-2 (IR) → Burning 4 km, Burnt out 0,5 km
  • 9K33 Osa (RF) → Burning 12 km, Burnt out 5 km
  • 9K35 Strela-10 (IR) → Burning 10 km, Burnt out 7 km
  • 9K310 Igla-1 (IR) → Burning 5 km, Burnt out 1,5 km

Speaking of, I wonder if the Rafales MAWS will have issues with clouds. Sim is absolutely filled with clouds as of late.

Problem with clouds is that they are client based and not everyone has the same cloufs.
So that could be screwed in a multitude of ways.
If they even make it affected by clouds

IR-missile seekers are affected by clouds very much so as they don’t even lock onto an only barely hidden target at a distance of 1 km. So if the clouds wouldn’t be the same for every player it would be extremly unfair.

That with the client based is true.

You sure about that? Im pretty sure theres a few preset cloud patterns per map and one gets assigned for the map, not per player.

Actually, scratch that, thats a lie. Clouds interfere with IR AAM’s seekers just fine in WT. They should interfere with IR based MAWS in the exact same way.

Have you tried seeing using the wyaback machine on the site, maybe they have an archive of the page with the picture?

So the pressure ratio is worse than expected. This further reduces exhaust velocity and supersonic cruise performance, though the source I used was directly from the German partners who make the engine’s compressors.

Am I right in understanding? On the first dev GJ rolled out raw blanks of Typhoon and Rafalе, didn’t accept reports on FM, because it was just a blank, and now - bam and a patch?

There were a couple dev server updates and we were assured the FM’s were under construction so I suppose that leaves us to fix them only after they came to live just like I warned about.

bruh they keep bumping a lot of content without fixing the previous ones, there’s already a mountain of errors for them to fix but they just keep adding shit.

Given the desire to release before christmas, this wasnt unexpected. With any luck, most of the reports will have been actioned for the Typhoon and Rafale being hte main additions and be in a half decent state. Though fully expect a battery of changes and tweaks in the new year.

The vehicle I fear the most with how rushed this cycle has been is the Rodney

Yeah… we need major patches focused on gameplay, systems, new modes and larger maps for top tier. Preferably EC for RB, instead of content patches, 2 content, 2 technical per year would be best.

British and French additions being rushed and not being fixed on the dev server and taking several months for them to fix on the live server? whaaaa noooo that wont happen and this must be the first time /s

As though the fixes are buffs… no, most of them will be nerfs. It isn’t a good thing that it will take this long.

Something tells me the radar will be meme on both so fixes will be buffs mostly. Not to mention ive seen some people getting STRs of rafale and that thing had abysmal sub 16° on full fuel on deck. Thats stupidly low for 4,5 gen with maneuverbility in mind.
God damn slatted E phantom can do almost that number in STR.

If they correct the absurd supermaneuverability and post-stall control only ever seen irl by TVC demonstrators or Sukhois I’d net that as an overall giga-nerf.

With 4x the turn radius, sure.

The thing what i saw was line barely touching 16° across whole flight envelope. Sure, at low speed its nice but 16° at mach .7-.8 is just wrong. It cant be right.
