Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion

so no AIM120 for the inner pylons? I prefer to bring as many as possible as I really do not like the AIM9M so I had really hoped for 2x AIM9M + 8x AIM120.

Apparently the IRST on the typhoon in game will function like an optic and not a proper IRST system and therefore won’t have the benefits of IRST what is gaijin thinking

I was hoping for a 4+6 loadout, but not surprised by the configuration we’ve gotten. Should be usable.

It should do both, and work in tandem with the radar.

Unlike the Russian system where you can only use one or the other.

Its gaijin just not wanting ot model those types of systems properly. Real shame, was looking forward to having something with IRST

yeah still no ideal, and why would they not model PIRATE as an IRST?

God knows. if it cant be modeled to do both and if you have to pick one, pick the one that cant be done by the tpod

I see a dev forum post + poll will be needed for this one

yeah I hope they come to their sense before we have to resort to begging and screaming but hey we still don’t have BOLs for the Tornados so we know they are more than willing to ignore us.

Yeah that has been shot down already

yeah really annoyed now, this plus no IRST… the disappointment is real.

I mean 6+2 still isn’t bad, F-16s can carry 6 AAMs max, F-15E can carry 8, Tornado has mandatory 4+4 and Gripen is at 4+2

For ARB, I think im more tempted by the 6+4 config, because just mass of missiles will be more handy. Got screwed the other day in the Gripen because I ran out of missiles.

In Sim, 2+6 will likely be more valuable.

Though… If we can brimstone 2s + prox fuse… Then how many of those can we carry with the rest of our AAMs :D

iirc it was 6 brimstones plus AAMs, going from what was shown on stream?

so 6 unflareable missiles :P

mind you, if i understood, Rafale will actually get IRST

No PIRATE IRST for german typhoons is acurate.

Only 98+07 IPA7 development and testing jet and a twin seater 30+42 trainer aircraft have them.

No production aircraft have them in the German airforce

We are screwed, its not even in manual unless i skipped it. And that info wouldnt be even usable.
But given what its supposed to do - TWS + priority target tracks, it cant be that slow because it wouldnt be able to keep steady TWS update rate.

well, it should be on UK/ITA but will be done as optics

I am well aware but the UK and Italian ones do.
