Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion

Its an ALARM

if they model the IRIS-T correctly it should be able to lock onto IR lasers like on the Su-25T or some of the helicopters

That probably shouldn’t be the case. L3 describe it as a “common weapon launcher” for 500lb class munitions with 14-inch lug spacing. So that should cover other GBUs as well.

PWIV’s interfaces (14-in bale lugs and mil-std-1760 umbilical connector) aren’t any different to others. It just has a hardback design

@Flame2512 mentionned in the past that DIRCM doesnt actually work too well vs focal plane seekers either iirc, not that theres much of anything in-game that actually uses DIRCM to a point that HOJ would be required anyways afaik. The Ka-52 is the only relevant threat that has it but its below the heli, and they’re food for ASM’s anyways. It might help in the upcoming SAMs capability to combat Ka-52’s though I guess.

I think the issue with that though is that, despite the fact NATO has worked VERY hard with standardization, and should theoretically be able to interchange most/all munitions with little actual effort to do so, gaijin is extremely anal about explicit picture proof that something can/has been done (except if its the Kh-38MT, in which case they read on some paper that it was a thing and took it at face value). Technically speaking, most munitions across the NATO nations should be interchangeable. Technically speaking almost all EFT stations should theoretically be cleared to carry AMRAAMs, but unless explicitly proven, gaijin will never let any of those things that happen. (As @Morvran stated, its also not fun when everyone has all the same stuff. Mixed battles and subtrees diluting national flavours has been some of the worst things to have happened to this game)

not yet but in the future, the Su-57 has DIRCM

It wouldn’t surprise me if it is compatible with other stuff, but in all the promo images it is always Paveway IV. And getting Gaijin to go with technical possibility is quite the challenge (see the amount of effort it took to get Paveways on the Tornado wing pylons)

This is why I am a project moon fan )))

What nations can get Eurofighter with an AESA radar rn? Seems to me none of the nations in game currently have an AESA eurofighter in service

(Spain flies new E-Scan radar for Eurofighter)
Germany plans to retrofitted thier T2s and T3s with ECRS Mk 1

Uk and Italy too but not sure

Kuwait and Qatar have operated the Mk0 now for 2 ish years

Germany and Spain were happy with the Mk1, so they’ve already made fairly decent progress in deploying the CAPTOR-E. Not sure if they have any operational yet, but they’ve got some radars I think. I think they also have a few Mk0s

Britain wanted to wait for the more capable Mk2 and as a result have only just started deployment. But Mk2 has been flown in an RAF Typhoon which is more than enough for Gaijin and its eventual addition to the game (Source)

Im not sure what the plan is for Italy. I think they are going for the Mk2 as well, but I think they still have a little more politics to go yet

I believe gunjob has an internal suggestion for Germany to get the Mk1 and Britain and Italy to get the Mk2

Germans screwing the pooch again? -_-

Sounds like it :D

Though I do wonder what the differences between Mk1 and Mk2 will actually mean in game beyond just the name

Idk if enough is known about them to make any real difference ingame?

I also wouldnt be suprised if gaijin somehow gave them even worse search angles than the CAPTOR-M somehow…

The did a similar thing with the Su-30SMs Bars radar, where it somehow has one kf the single worst search areas of all radars in-game despite being newer than the V004, and a bug report being submitted (and shot down) to buff its search area…

Gunjob/Flame more than likely could break it down better. But from a quick search (and its not easy because its never clear whether its talking about CAPTOR-E vs CAPTOR-M or CAPTOR-E Mk1 vs Mk2. )

But maybe extra range, more power and maybe can track more targets?

But does seem like a core of the differences are more to do with EW stuff though. I could see them being virtually identical in game

Of course, It will be Blue Vixen with a faster scan rate. We’ll need to wait 3 to 6 months for it to even get AESA code added

((so the UK and italy still having a better EFT then germany I see)))

Looks like it

lol not like it really matter since the things that would make the FGR4 better then their EFT arent really working in game

Is it just me, or is it eazyer in game to HMD lock an missile then getting an lock of an actuall plane…

(With the EF)

yeah ive noticed that with the gripen C as well
