I don’t see Britain ever getting the Su-30MKI it’s got Russian premium/event vehicle all over it probably give it Kh-38MTs too just to really add insult to injury!
MiG 29K navalised maybe but payload of 6 R-77 is pretty poor by top tier standards

Su-30MKI with ASRAAM and AESA whislt the Typhoon is limited to Blue Vixen and Aim-9M for balancing reasons.
Hate to moan but this is what Typhoon is on paper to everyone else it looks amazing but as discussed it has so many shortcomings that it’s blistering speed and climb rate accounts for very little.
I think half the Aim-120 issues are actually radar issues and they are so bad that its worth having a moan. I have to spend so much time with my “head in the cockpit” just babysitting the radar that I dont find it a fun aircraft to play. Would rather slap the living hell out of some mig-23MLs in the Tornado F3 than try and play the Typhoon at the moment.
Missile loadout is annoying, but not a lot can be done about that currently
After that, its just the annoying little things that we just have to wait a decade to be fixed. Its a shame just how little effor they put into the Typhoon/how rushed it was prior to the last major update and now the priority is on the aircraft that came in the last major update. Like the SU-30 and F-18.
Typhoon is now likely on the back burner for a while
Radar issues are rough I agree and actually laughed when the “terrible” Su-33 Radar locked the exact thing I was looking at and not the ground or nothing!
120s just need a little more lethality a change to the code to prevent the seeker being so easy to defeat with chaff. I do think the game has issues with jets notching or entering the notch.
The missile seems to think the whole aircraft is now magically notching while a large portion is not yet in the notch.
I also think aircraft that are larger and have larger RCS should get a penalty when trying to defend ARHM.
larger RCS more chance of some of that aircraft being reflected to the seeker?
Typhoon according to Gaijin is fine and it will continue to be fine as no one is really playing it.
Air RB lucky if there are 2 in a team and 4 in a game.
Compared to 4+ on each team of various Su-30/27SM and Rafales.
With no one playing it the stats will look favourable making any buffs or fixes less likely.
with the MICA getting an improved Seeker, I do wonder if there are any seeker buffs we could pursue for the Aim-120.
Perhaps, would be interesting, but this I think would require an overhaul to how chaff works.
But Typhoon could certainly do with its RCS reduction and properly modeled chaff. That is the other side of the coin. The typhoon has a decent CM count, but running BOL as pure chaff is annoying because of how weak the Chaff is. Meaning we are mostly reliant on kinematics to defeat ARH seekers, which isnt ideal in CQB
If they would model the BOLs with their pyrophoric flares correctly they would even be effective against IIR seekers. Instead of doing a notch like with ARH missiles you do a turn to have the IIR missile on your six, pop pyrophoric flares which form a cloud/wall of broadband IR radiation behind you which covers your plane and you turn away before the IIR missile flies through the cloud and is able to see your plane again or the cloud dissipates.
Well France and Europe would love it, US and Russian mains would not…So we know that’s not going to happen!
Kinematics are fine if you are far enough away from the missile. at 10km you are just dead 75% of the time.
There has to be some RNG though, otherwise Typhoons DASS system that uses Spectral countermeasures and we have multiple sources to confirm that. Should be well protected
in game that’s not the case with the MAWS system unable to flare any IR missile.
What do you mean by out-classed in a dogfight? Do you mean in close range missile jousting or you mean actual turning engagements?
No one is using guns when most jets have enough missiles to kill half a team
Aim-9M and Aim-120Bs are not that graet in CQB fights.
Aim-9M especially struggles in a tight close range dogfight as they really need a clean rear-aspect shot from further than about 1km away. (they also have 0 flare resistance in front aspect which is really annoying)
R-73 and Magic II love being up close and personal and i’ve been killed by an R-73 doing a 100° turn and killing me whilst I was on an Su-30s 7-o-clock. (and my MAWS didnt even try to drop flares)
Also Aim-9Ms have lousy (and ahistorical) lock ranges, which makes them rather poor for longer ranged engagements (even when the target is well and truly within the LSZ, you can find yourself without tone, which is really annoying because it should have tone based upon IRL sources)
Whilst you might have the raw performance to do well in a dogfight, the lack of HOBS IR/ARH missile that both the Rafale and Su-30SM have really close the gap quite a lot (let alone the buggy Vixen M-scan radar on the Typhoon vs AESA radars on both the Rafale and Su-30) close any advantage the Typhoon might have in raw performance at this time and I find myself needing to be especially careful whenever fights close to within 10km in the Typhoon because I know that is an environment the Typhoon is perticuarly weak in currently.
(and thats without even mentioning the fact Im finding Su-30SM pilots are becoming more and more confident in just shooting down any Aim-120 find at them from any kind of range, at least in SB, forcing some interesting tactics and half my AAM loadout to even force them onto the defensive)
I understand that but I am wondering if I am misinterpreting Morvran because by all objective measures the Typhoon is still the best or second best dogfighter in the game even with missiles are accounted for.
Eurofighter is definitely being held back for now since it’s already very good. But hopefully Gaijin will bring it up to spec in the future, and not abandon it.
It is good in flight performance the rest is pretty average.
Su-30SM superior Radar, superior missiles, weaker FM
J-11B Superior Radar, superior missiles, similar FM
Rafale Superior Radar, superior missiles, superior FM
All Typhoon currently does is go fast and turn.
It’s Radar is so buggy you cant really BVR with it and it’s payload of 6 120s makes BVR a waste of time
as wasting your missiles on speculative shots will only get you killed.
Are those radar’s superior only because Eurofighter radar is buggy right now?
J-11B maybe the Su-30 is PESA and Rafale is AESA
They scan faster have a larger scan window and update quicker essentially meaning they see everything at once. The advantage these systems give you in game cannot be understated.
Weapons are mid though. Aim9m needs to get out, I swear irccm feels like it has been nerfed, in combination with the lock range, and manueverability, makes a horrible missile
Id say half and half.
AESA should be superior to CAPTOR-M just because its an M-Scan, but CAPTOR-M shouldnt be miles behind either as its got some pretty important tricks up its sleave, like Priority Track. Its the closest thing you can get to E-Scan without being E-Scan. (and thats without including the PIRATE intergration we should also have)
But its so weak in game currently and requires so much effort to use, that it falls short of many M-scan radars, which is definetly not accurate.
Also, with FGR4 being one of our end of line aircraft, there isnt any meaningful reason why we couldnt get CAPTOR-E sooner rather than later. Then just add th F2 for the CAPTOR-M before the FGR4
typhoon still is the best fm in game
