Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion

irl turn radius looks in the ballpark of half that of the in-game one. Thats just eyeballing it tho.

Can you do it on tornado instead?

Looks like at the nose, the missile is angled at 40 degrees.

In game its only 15 degrees.

I don’t have brimstone tornado though. Even if you rotate your reference of the eurofighter to match the angle of the tornado Brimstone pylon, it’s still deviates a lot

Yeah it’s mostly that Tornado pylon the misisle is launched from is angled downwards at 10-15 degrees.

This and to calculate what it should be using in game references the launching vehicle needs to be the same to calculate distances and speeds of the missile to a reasonable accuracy.

You absolutely can tell there is a signficant difference already, but it would be good to eliminate any known errors straight away.

I’ll do a Tornado Gr4 clip for you as close as I can in a little bit

Perfect thanks!

Just make sure it’s the rear pylon the missile is being launched from.

Looking back at that tornado test, I think the altitude is much higher but I still think it’s subsonic, the wings are not swept, clouds passing by

Matched it about as closely as I could based upon a few educated guesses, like the alt being around 20k ft

(will be HD shortly, still processing)

Yeah its not pulling anywhere near as hard, granted thats not gonna work for bug reporting.

Itd be interesting trying to see this pic recreated:

Is there a way to zoom out when flying an aircraft?

I should be able to reverse engineer the maths, but I’ll take a look tomorrow.

The biggest problem I see is warthunder does not utilise body lift in missiles.

Part of why the devs think the Stinger can only do 12g when it is capable of double that at least.

Really hard to match the perspective

(was in 0.25x playback, so thats why its so slow)

Transparent overlay. Like a 15 degree difference

Or maybe a better way to measure the difference in angle is when the brimstone reaches the nose of tornado and the angle it produces relative to the plane of the fuselage

Which I think Is what Devil did

But that should not matter. Missile should be able to reach 40 degree of boresight, and the front ones are mounted flat.

Could do so in replay

Another difference to note is that the irl missile is flying in its direction of travel, the WT missile is falling in that direction…

Brimstone should achieve higher AoA
