and attacking like that is just as dependent on the radar being able to adequately find let alone guide the missile.
Id rather take something with a weaker FM but decent radar and loadout over the Typhoon currently. Heck. I do, I have more fun in ARB in the F3 Late than I do in the Typhoon.

The radar is perfectly fine man. And people saying its worse than it was before double scan fix + tws + are insane. Medium scan feels so much better than what it once was.
The TWS still barely tracks a gently maneuvering target.
It still barely detects easy targets to detect (heck I have no idea how many times a target should have been detected but wasnt and I never knew because unlike in RB where you can just hard lock everything and have flashing beacons telling you where enemies are you 100% dependent on the TWS actually finding the target in ASB)
and it still produces constant ghost contacts
and thats just basic stuff.
We still barely have a radar more capable than the blue vixen, even with those things fixed.
Where is Priority track? That could be laughably easy to implement, just C&P AESA code over to it, but no… Gaijin of course has to use the excuse of “This feature isnt in the game yet” as a reason to artificially nerf the Typhoon . It is in the game, its found on AESA radars.
I still find myself relying upon Tpod thermals and the Mk2 eyeball far more than the radar. 6+4 is rapidly becoming my normal ASB fit, because AMRAAMs just arent as usable as they should be. Whenever I do play it, I play so stupidly defensively, I mgiht as well be in the Tornado F3 Late or Sea Harrier FA2 because the Typhoon is hopelessly outclassed in the radar department by the Rafale and SU-30SM, its DOA half the time
Just because you can hard lock people using the HMD in ARB, doesnt mean “its fine” and even if it was still a buggy mess. still 0 excuse for it to be so heavily artificially nerfed. Given everyone else is getting every possible buff for their top tier aircraft, it would be nice if the Typhoon could just be modeled even partially correct
What? I mostly play SB. I barely have any games at top tier in rb. What are you talking about using hms in rb? i mostly use hms in sim
Fine, You play ASB. Are you reliably getting long range TWS medium scan locks enabling BVR combat or are you hugging the deck and forcing close range WVR fights using ACM and HMD to hard lock the target to fire an AMRAAM?
I mean, he just admitted to mostly using HMS in sim, which means even he knows the radars trash and he’s just playing devils advocate…

Trying it in SB now (my god Su-30 spamming R-77-1 and just spawn camping is just annoying as hell) but both my kills so far are with HMD aimed Aim-9Ms
Well, it depends. Am I flying on a map with lots of terrain? Afghanistan, rocky canyon, spain, etc? Then I’m going rat mode, with hms and only quick narrow scan to ID. But, when flying super flat maps, like sinai, I use the radar. And even then, it’s still super easy to keep track of people with the radar, because there’s no obstructions. Even the flanker radar is fine on flat maps. Plus, because of the HMD ID thing, you know exactly where all the enemies are if your radar gets even a small glimpse of the target, allowing you to hms lock them.
Meanwhile, in aircraft like the FA2 or F3. Im quite happy just sticking in TWS the entire time and it will find targets quickly, track them just fine and allow me to engage without having to use ACM (as of course no HMD)
The TWS+ issues exists. Maybe they’ve replaced the Typhoons problems, maybe they haven’t. We’ll have to see if/when they fix TWS+
There are a few in this thread (who havent got a single match in the Typhoon) that are arguing that hte Typhoons radar should be artificially nerfed because the FM is good enough to win dogfights, which is of course a stupid argument.
After 2+ yeras of nerfed aircraft after nerfed aircraft and waiting to finally get the Typhoon whislt everyone else has been enjoying ever more powerful aircraft. It would be nice if it was historically modeled. No nerfs, no Britain tax, nothing. It was like everyone elses aircraft always seem. Modeled as closely to IRL performance, and in this regard, there is no doubt about it. The Typhoons radar is a shadow of its IRL glory.

Which had no BVR missiles, got hammered hard near instantly (including many widely suspected fake FM nerfs) and resulted in BOL being artificially nerfed to a fraction of their IRL performance and a year later, we are still suffering from that nerf on all our Rank 8 aircraft
Then when it got ARH missiles, it got the weakest ones in the game. R-Darters.
Even after more than a year, its got more missing features than the Typhoon, even stupidly basic things like centre line bombs let alone big things like having its placeholder radar replaced, MAWS, VWS, etc.
Yeah, it was fine for a few months, but the gameplay was hug the deck at 50 ft to avoid the R-27ERs being spammed at you by the SU-27, win the merge, rear aspect Aim-9M repeat. Was boring as hell being forced to play like a rat.
But I was more referring to things like teh SHars being a total mess. Tornados being nerfed to hell (where of course Britain and Britain alone gets nerfed with stuff the otehrs dont like the engines) . Or the year prior to the Gripen where our best fighter was the Phantom FGR2 added in 2019 (which is also rather nerfed) forced to fight F-16s and Mig-29s
it was by far the best plane in the game for around half a year? i dont remember the exact dates. the bol nerf was also very inconsequential for it as when they were nerfed they were also changed to drop more flares with every press and with over 700 total counter measures you had to be TRYING to run out of countermeasures.
also the lack of bvr weapons was not nearly as big of a deal as it would be now as at the time multi path height was much higher than it is now. and these days its still very strong R-Darters are very good at close range and
as for the fgr there was really nothing to add to britian at the time it was fighting 4th gens asides from some slight armament buffs to it which yeah they probably should have done.
Doesn’t matter. They nerfed EVERYTHING with BOL.
This has resulted in aircraft like the F3, Viggen, Harriers, etc, having a fraction of the CMs they should have because instead of having large calibre short burn flares and standard calibre chaff. They have 1/4 standard strength short burn flares and 1/4 standard calibre chaff. The Typhoon is also impacted by this nerf as well.
its stupid just how much they artificially nerfed BOL for everyhting because of the Gripen. Which, is no longer relevant with the increase in the number of IRCCM equipped aircraft, reduction in MP and ARH missiles. And the fact they chose to nerf all BOL, instead of just removign 2 rails was just total BS.
The nerf was unfair and completely ahistorical, again, I havent seen anything else OP like that aritifically nerfed.
It was still annoying to be forced ot use the heavily nerfed (and still nerfed) Aim-9Ms whilst having to try and defend against R-27ERs being spammed at you.
Still weaker than R-73 and MICA were and are.
They could have added an actually modeled Tornado F3. Took 18 months to get something half usable and even today, its underperforming. If we had the F3 we have today back then, it would have been entirely different story and its still nerfed to hell.
The point is im sick and tired of getting fake nerfs and being ignored by the devs for months or even years. The Typhoon is our end of line of aircraft and its barely recongisable as the Typhoon. Its missing tons of features, its FM is underperforming, its radar is a buggy mess, its A2G is total BS.
And we have people coming into this thread, liek yourself advocating for even more fake nerfs just because other fighters cant be it in a gun fight, in a meta where barely anyone gets gunkills.
So sorry, no, The Typhoon needs MAJOR buffs, its been 3 months since it was added and we are still waiting for rather basic things to be fixed, let alone more major issues addressed and we have no timeline for it, but every other update seems to hold major buffs for everyone else and its just frustating that once again. We have been neglected by the devs, forced to use a buggy mess because the Typhoon isnt US, USSR or wierdly French.
i have not advocated for a single nerf to the ef in this thread all i have done is say that it should not be buffed flight performance wise, all i have really claimed is that the plane is not under performing flight performance wise, and that its radar is not as terrible as you claim it is.
Im quite clearly talking about giving the Typhoon major overhauls and buffs, most notably in the radar department. and here you are advocating against buffs because apparently its user error

The Typhoon is missing a ton of features from HMD IFF to PIRATE performance to a decent A2G loadout. Heck its even time Aim-9Ms get some buffs
The Typhoons FM is underperforming, plenty of open bugs reports and more being written soon I suspect, especially in terms of acceleration, max speeds and some really wierd thrust curves we have.
The Typhoons needs major buffs and overhauls. It is underperforming so significantly its a joke it got so little fixes last major update, in fact it got more tiime and energy being nerfed to ahistorical levesl than it did getting buffed. and everyime you ask for Typhoons fixes ,people turn around and say “hu LOL Skill issue” even though they have never even played the aircraft.
It is a fact, the Typhoon is in a sorry state and many are simply not playing it because why should they. THere are better aircraft in all 3 trees that dont have such buggyness
