I think the dude that almost “leaked” the EF’s manual was telling that there indeed was 8xAIM-120 mentioned.
I don’t know if where talking about the same guy but he did send a full screenshot of something from the flight manuals
I do believe he has some type of source to confirm an 8th amraam although I don’t think he’s ever coming back, I wouldn’t mind too much without 8 amraams unless were being overshadowed by a much better counterpart
I suspect that 8x Aim-120 fit is entirely and completely possible but has simply never been done because there simply has never been the need for it so far. (maybe even entirely and completely possible on all pylons with the right software updates)
Within the Air policing, Quick Reaction Alert and Close Air Support roles the EFTs have been deployed on so far. 2-6x ASRAAM + 4x AMRAAM/METEOR + 2x Tanks + A2G weapons if needed were more than enough. Was never a real reason to deploy with more than 4 or 6 most of the time
If it has been done, then there is no known (non-classifeid) documents or photographs of it.
Yeah, that totally public manual states that station 4 (that can only carry A/G ingame) has the same capabilities as station 6 which carries Aim-120/Double Aim-9 including the ability to use Twin Stores.
But i don’t think it’s ever been used like that operationally honestly, but the beast mode render makes more sense knowing that wiring isn’t really an issue.
It’s already been argued before, i myself tried it but nothings going to change until the EF is outclassed, maybe once the F-15 EX is in game they’ll consider adding more missiles on the EF, or they’ll just give us the AESA and retain the same 6+2 missile count.
Funnily enough there’s a double rack ammram launcher in data files specifically for EF, so they’re at least considering something.
Again. Probably could be done. Its whether or not it has been done and peace time. Probably not.
Its a bit like the Sea Harrier FRS1. If it hadnt been for the Falklands it would probably have never gotten the twin rail AIm-9L mounts. Heck, there might have never been an FA2.
Tbh kinda looks cool
I dont think the EFT is outclassed because it has 2x less AMRAAM than the F-15.
Its radar is useless.
Its CMs need buffs
Its FM needs buffs
Its A2G is a joke
But A2A loadout fit?
Nah its fine. Sure would love to have IRL lock ranges on the Aim-9M, and sure the Aim-120Bs are probably underperforming. But for now. its fine and we can awlays get ASRAAM and Aim-120C5s to keep us going for a while. Actually 6x ASRAAM + 4x AMRAAM is probably WAAAAY more potent than 2x ASRAAM + 8x AMRAAM would ever be
If a photo or something can be found of inner pylon AMRAAMs, Great. But its not the hill im gunna die on. Its not worth it at this moment in time with so many other issues
Would you rather IRIS-T or ASRAAM
I don’t think that either, im talking in a future when the F-15 EX is here and the EF will have better missiles too but lack number and radar performance.
ASRAAM. Im more of a defensive player that prefers BVR (I spent the better part of the last 2 years playing mud movers like the Tornado or Jag, or BVR trucks like the F3)
So ASRAAM 100% suites my playstyle way more than IRIS-T would. Which is useful, because FGR4 is the only Typhoon I have and plan to unlock at the moment :D
Hopefully we’ll have CAPTOR-E by then, So will be golden on the radar front.
And on missile count. I’ll take ASRAAMs over SPAMRAAMs any day of the week.
If they do the same thing with asraam/iris t as now and give them to everyone I’d run 2 iris-t + 4 asraam + 4 aim120
I really hope they dont do that. As it is one of the core ways they are unique and would also be crazy OP
Defeats the uniqueness, but I’d rather not have to grind out another tech teee just to try out another missile
you dont need a manual to tell you what’s public.
Inner and Middle pylons have AHDERU wich has 14 and 30 inch lugs. the outer wing pylon uses ALDERU meaning only 16inch 1000lbs class weapons as opposed to 2000lbs. both ALDERU and AHDERU use the same mechanical and electrical standard
the only thing that could stop you from putting an MFRL on the middle or inner pylons would be software
or aerodynamics but that should be fine
Depends if the double rack is capable of handling that much weight. I’ve only ever seen it referred to in the context of carrying IR missiles.
Probably is the limit, considering the mounting angle as well I bet the adaptor would break with two 150kg AMRAAM on it, vs only 88kg per ASRAAM.
