Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion

I believe all Typhoons should have this, since all are fitted with Praetorian. The only difference is that UK and Saudi Typhoons have been fitted with LWRs in their service life.

Speaking of variants, I told a bit of a fib earlier, Typhoon Tranche 1 would appear to only get 120Bs for MRAAMs, not 120C-5, which was a later integration at Tranche 2 Blk.10.

Whether or not Gaijin chooses to follow this to the letter is anyone’s guess

Maybe it wasnt when they entered service, but was by the time they were being upgraded to the FGR4.

about half of the german T1s dont have it. the rest do so it wouldnt make any sense to not give this to them.

UK EFs have LWS though which neither the Italian nor the German ones have

Give me a bit, because iirc I have some magazines/books of RAF Review from the time Project Centurion was in progress. Might be able to squeeze a bit out of that.

So use the Stormer HVM vs the Germans and Italians then :P

You say that like the HVM does not have low emission laser.

Only if that was modeled in game

Germany is the only nation that tested the AMK kit

Good news i guess

I assume that Phase One Enhancement B (P1EB) is a FGR.4 area? Either way, confirms the use of HMSS and Litening 3 (Sourced via “The Official RAF Annual Review 2016”, by Key Publishing)

Bad news.

Well that’ll be in 2028, and “available to all nations” - The Programme | Eurofighter Typhoon (very bottom of the page)

So the more the merrier. I can only wish Italy and Germany would fit an LWR, seeing as, well, the people employing them at the minute are finding them quite effective.

thats not a given until P4E SD phase is done…

you could make a case for the Spanish one having LWS as it has the correct panels just with placeholders instead of the real sensors.
the rest… well, it remains a modular aircraft and nothing is stopping anyone from equipping german or italian ones with that system.

and in regards to PIRATE: after having talked to some ppl the consensus is that it wont happen for Germany. the sensor is, by now, outdated and you can do most of the same features (IRST, FLIR) with the TPOD.

Eh, for it’s time it was a neat bit of kit, and it gives you that option to not emit if you’re not carrying a TPOD.

As you also say, Typhoon is a very modular bit of kit. There’s nothing stopping someone from fitting a upgraded version of PIRATE.

someone would have to pay for it and its not gonna be the germans
it gets hard to jutsify when you have highly advanced sensors in your LITENING V and SNIPER pods

Wasnt it questionable currently if UK even orders another round of Euros?

I’m not aware of us placing any orders, thus far we’ve been doing a programme of rolling upgrades (see Project Centurion) but I haven’t heard anything about new builds no.

Mind you, I wouldn’t count on it given the way Defence is going at the minute in Britain.

Yeah, certainly. But the option is always there, though I see your point, since a TPOD can be used for A/A whereas the IRST probably can’t be used for A/G

afaik you can use PIRATE for A2G FLIR but there’s obviously no laser designator so its kinda very limited
