Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

Purchasing 35s means you purchased a bulk order that comes with 120s… regardless of if you want them or not, as for meteors; theyre already integrated on the B and A its just a rollout to the fleet which is on the squadrons as far as timelines

It’s not integrated. Separation and firing trials haven’t even started.
The furthest it’s progressed so far is flight trials with an inert/drill missile in the bay on F-35B - no motor, no seeker. F-35A hasn’t even flown with the missile yet.
Meteor integration is still months away from live firing trials, let alone IOC.

Isn’t this mainly because of Raytheon stone walling the integration for years

If only as part of the deal we were allowed to integrate our own weapons… tier one partner something something.

…haven’t even started…

it has started, you just haven’t seen it yet and i cant show you.

unfortunately most of this sits on the UK ministries and them either waiting on domestic builds or proposed munitions to further develop so that they can have an alternative route for potential options yet to be built in order to have something self contained within their own industrial sphere… hence why the integration on the Italian A models was so quick, basically next day in respect to when Italy actually got their A models on station.

LockMart is the one who should be handling Meteor integration, Raytheon just mostly does missile electronics, design and assembly. They don’t even do rocket motors.

Or the UK should be handling the intergration if the US didn’t break the terms of the contract

So to return to the Typhoon.

2 things

  1. I just had an F-16 appears as “jet” on NCTR I guess thats the new F-16? (battle log only stated F-16C)

  2. anyone else feel like the ECRS Mk2 is a little… Ghosty… since the major update? Keep having it loose track of a contact, follow a phantom contact for a few seconds and then return to the contact. Definetly no notch

They made some changes to TWS. Expected as much…

New jets appear by their type instead of by name, JET = 16C, 39D, so on MULTIJET = J-15, 29M, and the like. They’ll fix it eventually, I don’t know why they always wait until after the update drops.

Two separate signals are now used by ESA radars to search and to track targets when in TWS mode. As a result, just like in a hard lock, it is now possible to track targets above the horizon with any radial velocity, and targets below the horizon with lower radial velocities are now trackable.

That shouldnt explain ghost contacts though, where it starts tracking something that isnt even there and then jumps back to the real contact after a few seconds. Surely that should actually make the tracking stronger and less likely to drop, especially with a ‘high’ scan rate AESA

(i’ll get some clips over the weekend to show what I mean)

Could be chaff. They made it so that targets above the horizon aren’t able to notch, which would also mean that the chaff they drop would be detectable.

Not that I can see, and this was in extreme top down too (I was at about 25k ft and the target was ground hugging)

Could also just be the servers dying. DDoS + immediately after a major update. I’ve had 9Ms behaving even worse because of the lag lol

Perhaps.

Yeah, I had a 9M just straight up miss yesterday, was CBA to go look at the replay though, but it was fired just shy of the LSZ and somehow just, missed the target

had the same happen with PL-8Bs, it refused to hit a non-flaring side aspect target at ~2km

You do realize Germany ordered Brimstone’s for Typhoons right?

Also what is this nonsense trying to limit other Typhoon’s capabilities even in theory Morvan, having best EFT isn’t enough at this rate?

I’m getting too old for the amount of stuff I need to pull off to play GRB typhoon. I’d actually prefer zuni pods to brimstones in their current state.
