Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

It does have a booster.

With latest dev update it seems Scan speeds got reverted back?
30x15: 0.734 → 0.975
60x30: 2.939 → 3.9
90x30: 4.409 → 5.85
200x15: 4.899 → 6.5

Mk1 specific:
180x15: 4.409 ->5.85

It has a booster which is integrated in the combustion chamber (called “nozzleless solid-fuel-rocket-engine”), so only after the booster is burned out the combustion chamber is cleared to work AFAIK. The acceleration of the booster is enough to propel it from somwhere short of Mach 1 to Mach 2 in two seconds. In that regard it theoretically could also be ground launched and reach around Mach 1. Most ramjets work best at high Mach numbers, but still work at around Mach 1, some special cases even at below Mach 1 (even though not very efficiently).

On the Bright side, for the Mk.2 the limit of 90 is gone and back to 100°

Radar nerfed?

Hoping this is an error…

We had the best Radar for about 6 hours 🤣

Our radar is now outperformed by the ES-05 (which is smaller and lower power with fewer TRMs, but currently has more range lol) and the N035, which I’m convinced gaijin just believes works off of magic.

We don’t even have a full electronic scan (140x30 where???)

Truly classic. Hoping the stats are still placeholder right now even though they’re probably not.

FYI this is a nerf down to 185~190deg/s putting us BELOW the mech scan rate, let alone the electronic scan rate.

What makes you say that?

It’s using its detection range for a 10x10 degree scan area… for every mode.

What mech scan radar has a scan rate that high (excluding some of the WW2 ones)? 185°/s still makes it the second or third fastest scanning ESA radar in the game.

We are below the bar in every mode for our mechanical scan speed, let alone electronic.

As does literally every other radar in the game…

Elaborate? Very few radars have the ability to significantly (if at all) improve their range by reducing the scan angle. Most of the numbers in use are from sources which aren’t based on a small specialised scan mode.

No radar in the game has it’s detection range affected by the size of the scan pattern you choose.

No ESA radar in the game has it’s range decreased the further the radar beam is off boresight (IRL they all do).

Correct but it’s weird to use the performance of 350km in a very specialised mode (which it hilariously enough doesn’t even have as an option in game) for EVERY mode, where it should be something closer to 200~250 otherwise.

@Gunjob any idea why the scan rate was reduced even further down from its actual rate values?

That range isn’t used in every mode in game though:

  • In HPRF Velocity it is 350 km
  • In HPRF SRC it is 300 km
  • In MPRF it is 150 km

…Correct but the radar can do HPRF TWS (TWS HDN) which gives it a range on a wide scan area that it is totally incapable of irl.

If TWS HDN was limited to the small scan region that can actually achieve a 350km search area irl i’d agree with you, but it’s not
