Yes practise rounds in anything other than the default belt are a crime.

Practice rounds in the default belt are also a crime. Theyre wortless and hit for almost no damage.
Out of the 150 rounds the EFT carries, 37 are practice rounds in all but the stealth belts, which effectively means the EFT only has 113 rounds for its gun unless you use stealth belts.

Arguments I have seen is the practise round clears any fouling of the gun. But I dont think modern cannons need them
The Gripens Akan m/85 uses the PELE-T round instead of the practice tracer shell for the same “purpose” in-game, which gives it significantly more damage.
PELE-T is an insentitive munition meant to provide similar on hit effects vs semi-soft/soft targets like a jet as an HE shell while not having the risk of detonating in the barrel.
So not only is that not an actual excuse for gaijin to use, they already have the correct round on the same gun in-game. They just refuse to give anyone but the gripens PELE-T for some bizarre reason.

If I remember correctly PELE-T only functions as APHE anyway, its not measurably different from the APHE fired from the BK27’s. Might be talking out my arse here but I remember looking over the PELE-T’s when they came in.

are stats same? Gripen’s 27mm mostly makes enemy at least non-combat, but on EFT/tornado it just… sucks
Yes but the issue isnt the missing PELE-T, its the fact the all BK-27 armed jets use Practice-tracer rounds instead of the PELE-T one.
So instead of the default belt being
PELE-T/APHE/APHE/APHE (like on the gripen)
its
PT/APHE/APHE/APHE (everyone else)
Every other BK-27 user is effectively working with 3/4 ammunition unless they load stealth belts, as there are PT rounds in all but the tracer belts.
Yeah PELE-T and BK27 APHE, the only difference is the white tracer.

Typically the only belt the FGR.4 should use in the air to air role is a full belt of DM21 ‘Warshot’ which is pure HE with a PD fuze as per the Tornado F.3 in late service.

Any bug reports for that? Cuz atm almost the entirety of every belt is AP of some kind, with every 4th round being a nerf dart
We have one for the Tornado F.3 but not for the Typhoon, mainly because I don’t have a direct source for the belts in use. I can infer it from what Tornado F.3 was using and its given role and the gun system being the same. But not enough for a report.
I suppose I could FOI to see what rounds are “in service”. Though I suspect they will tell me its DM18/28 PT and DM21 HEPD. I’ll have to get back to you.

Will gaijin really only accept direct sources for vehicles that are still in service? Surely documents like that for Typhoon might not be available until after it retires?

OEM Manuals (primary source): User manuals, repair manuals, factory manuals, operating manuals, technical manuals etc. Single source is required (preferred source).
Authored works (secondary source): Reference books on collections of vehicles/aircraft/ships (‘coffee table books’), biographies, specialist books, “expert” opinion publications, industry magazines etc. At least two unrelated sources required.
You need to provide the following information about the source:
- Title and if applicable: publication date, document number, ISBN;
- Author or organisation;
- Image of the cover;
- Images of all the referenced pages and their page numbers;
- References for photographs;

I would like to add the game that visual comes from had way more depth than it ever should have had for a game developed in the 1990s.
I do miss the old era of janky combat flight sims.
Most of them are unplayable now due to the manuals the games came with not being available any more.

The Typhoons got an updated TGP MFD screen in the latest dev server. But the camera is still tilted to the side.
