Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

  • Narrow scan is copy paste of CAPTOR-M
  • Medium and wide scan are copy pastes of APG-63(V)3
  • Update rate is same as Rafales (worst out of ESA’s, though not a big deal)

All the new ESA’s are currently copy pastes of the APG-63(V)3 in terms of scan zones (and associated speeds) except the ECRS narrow scans for some reason.

As for “Gunjobs estimate” its not an estimate, its a properly sourced minimum number. The same source that was used to give CAPTOR-M a 70deg/s scan rate puts CAPTOR-E at minimum 8x faster (560deg/s), and actually says its significantly faster than that, but the number we have is 8x faster, so thats what should be expected.

Blah blah blah, radar not final, but yes, ECRS is MASSIVELY underperforming atm.

Na, not fast enough, need it faster :P

Ah okay so it’s currently C&P values. Checks out. I’ll refrain from complaining too much for now.

also ? you have it listed as 0.011 (same as Su-30SM)

Made a mistake, ty for catching it. I copy pasted the APG-63(v)3 lines cuz thats what the rest of the info is

On a similar note, the german EF is currently 200x200 on dev (same as others)

ECRS Mk1 code exists, and Germany is the only one that uses it, so i’ll leave it as is for now. If it comes to live with ECRS Mk.2 ill change it

And yet the German one has standard rectangular radar with ±90, while the other two have circular ones and in fact do hold lock at 100deg.

Therefore what Xray says of German one is simply wrong.

First report in: Eurofighter (AESA) - CAPTOR-E scan speed should be much faster

So I have to manually gimbal the AESA radar. Is that supposed to be?

Accepted in 1 minute. Brilliant.

That should be how it works in some modes (albeit with a 120°-140° wide scan area rather than 70°). there should also be modes that automatically move the gimbal.

Damn it I can’t edit my comment, was gonna add that I’m unsure if the e scan is limited to ±60 or 70

The widest scan pattern is currently +/-35°. Which also needs reporting

I’ve found that well sourced bug reports tend to go through super fast (though I’m sure in this case he gave notice to a tech mod b4 hand to make it go through even faster)

Somehow the wobble on the typhoon’s rudder feels worse than usual.

how much you wanna bet it’ll be the same in the live server

“known issue” I’ll bet. But still great it got acccepted so fast
