Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

I don’t, it has enough flares already and taking 32 off is a lot easier than remodelling a cockpit

It isn’t a massive problem, it’s just frustrating how reliable they are when you you give them an easy job, because the devs are rather idle when it comes to these things

If it’s easier there are also a report for Rafale regarding SPECTRAL Flares, and yet it’s just remained there. As long we’re not receiving updates regarding those 32 large flares, we’re fine.

But the Eurofighter is waiting for an unnerf of the BOL as ANY plane which is using BOL CMs

Which would change literally nothing as dual band seekers aren’t implemented…
Which is probably why it’s not gonna go anywhere for a while.

With the difference that we don’t have spectral flares in the game

And for the EF it would be an easy number change that can be done in a few minutes

It doesn’t require dual-band seekers. It just would make it much easier to defeat AIM-9M/AAM-3 type of missiles too. Seeker shut-off occurs when flares are dropped and the flares differ greatly from the heat signature of the aircraft by being much hotter, spectral flares would reproduce heat signature closer to the aircraft and thus the AIM-9M’s method of IRCCM would never activate in the first place.

Spectral flares would essentially make AIM-9M into AIM-9L.

Of course we don’t have, but that’s just an example, I’m not necessarily asking immidiate for SPECTRAL Flares, but that is that, not every accepted report would immidiately get implemented, even the easier one. It all depends of Gaijin decision whether they want to implement it or not.

Fair play thanks for that.
Unfortunately, I also think that would be broken overpowered considering the set of jets getting it would effectively be the two most dominant airframes in the game lol.

Almost all Nato jets have access to spectral flares

Also seeker shut off wouldn’t be affected

Such as?

Access to, sure, but what’s the chance gaijin will want specific evidence?

Typhoon flies with them, we have RAF reports confirming it.

I know about EFT’s, i just dont know any other NATO jets using them.

Flares shouldn’t really reliably be captured because of the seeker push ahead, it tracks the leading edge of the heat signature, as such even if the flare was the same signature of the defending aircraft. It would track the forward edge of the fighter but the flare receding behind the targets current flight vector would fall out of FOV.

I’d imagine the goal of spectral flares is to break modern IIR tracking gates similar to BOL. BOL does it by volume, where as a spectral flare does it by illumination and signature matching. Good for tracking gates not so good for suspend seekers.

That’s my guess anyway.

I know its not the place but can you check your dm?

I made a small bug report about J8F Gunjob.

It would end up with the exact same CM load as the Tornado F3s… I really doubt it would stop them nerfing the typhoon

So, they would only be implemented when we have ASRAAM and IRIS-T

Iam not to sure about that due to how spectral flares work

They are basically mimicking the IR signiture of your plane / engine

So the seeker might not shut off due to it not registering it as flare

still not fixed :(

Gaijin adds 6th gens like the Tempest

Has the same squished HUD
