I don’t, it has enough flares already and taking 32 off is a lot easier than remodelling a cockpit
It isn’t a massive problem, it’s just frustrating how reliable they are when you you give them an easy job, because the devs are rather idle when it comes to these things
If it’s easier there are also a report for Rafale regarding SPECTRAL Flares, and yet it’s just remained there. As long we’re not receiving updates regarding those 32 large flares, we’re fine.
It doesn’t require dual-band seekers. It just would make it much easier to defeat AIM-9M/AAM-3 type of missiles too. Seeker shut-off occurs when flares are dropped and the flares differ greatly from the heat signature of the aircraft by being much hotter, spectral flares would reproduce heat signature closer to the aircraft and thus the AIM-9M’s method of IRCCM would never activate in the first place.
Spectral flares would essentially make AIM-9M into AIM-9L.
Of course we don’t have, but that’s just an example, I’m not necessarily asking immidiate for SPECTRAL Flares, but that is that, not every accepted report would immidiately get implemented, even the easier one. It all depends of Gaijin decision whether they want to implement it or not.
Fair play thanks for that.
Unfortunately, I also think that would be broken overpowered considering the set of jets getting it would effectively be the two most dominant airframes in the game lol.
Flares shouldn’t really reliably be captured because of the seeker push ahead, it tracks the leading edge of the heat signature, as such even if the flare was the same signature of the defending aircraft. It would track the forward edge of the fighter but the flare receding behind the targets current flight vector would fall out of FOV.
I’d imagine the goal of spectral flares is to break modern IIR tracking gates similar to BOL. BOL does it by volume, where as a spectral flare does it by illumination and signature matching. Good for tracking gates not so good for suspend seekers.
