Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

and that was good enough for the spice 250

True but in this case Maverick was never realised, no one ever ordered it and they stopped advertising the plane with it. However SPICE 250 was proposed for Tranche 5 and SPICE 250 ER for the Eurofighter EK.

There isn’t much difference and spice could end up with the same fate…

What’s your thoughts on the ALARM coming to the Typhoon?

100% personal opinion, just from the perspective of a tech mod

It seems to be in this really wierd grey area where it could go either way. (Unless the Saudis operate ALARM on the Typhoon, then its simple)

Looks fine to me

I am more curious about the performance of the ALARM. I know nothing of this missile really, other than that it is a SEAD & has a parachute

Ah yes, but that was fitted, iirc there are docs stating it was never intergrated due to ALARMs planned retirement in the RAF.

Flame has a good write up here

its enough for implementation.

and since it uses mfrl racks, eft should be able to equip 4 at a time.

Spoiler

kinda applied the same rule with dual pylons for amraams in the EFT but why did they reitre ARMs ? what did they replace it with ?

brimstone and SPEAR 3. They’re just as if not more capable and you can saturate air defense with more of them from different angles, plus turning off your radar doesn’t save you.

but brimstones have much less range compared to modern ARMs and spear 3 is not in service.

Storm-shadow and Paveway IV

Which are planned to be replaced in the role by SPEAR-3

ALARM was retired in 2014 iirc, which was getting quite old that point
