What exactly? I didn’t quite understand you.
If the F-2s Tpod will cue to the radar lock, then clearly its not a mechanic that only helis can have.
In the past they’ve said stuff like “the harrier gr7 cant get MAWS because that is a heli only mechanic for now”
So I assumed that maybe the Typhoons Tpod not cueing to radar lock was the same. But if the F-2 can do it, then the Typhoon should be able too
It works on the rafale internal camera that’s for sure.
However whenever the radar target position is outside of the camera limits of the in built camera (or Tpod if installed), then the camera lock will fix itself on a GPS point in the last seen location of the camera, and you need to deactivate the target point.
Does it straight up just not work for the EFT ?
Doesnt work with GMTI vs ground or naval targets
Doesnt work with PIRATE and radar lock
Doesnt work with PIRATE and IRST lock
So yeah. Doesnt work in any mode or with either camera
I’ll make a report for it.
Much appreciated
Does a report need ot be done for slaving PIRATE and Litening III tpods to locked targets as well?
PIRATE to slave to TWS report is in already, unsure if we’d need another for LITENING.
Specifically for GMTI lock though.
Having the Tpod lock to the radar is a huge buff for the Typhoon, especially with the SAL brismtones.
In gamemodes like SB, without that, the GMTI is basically unusable as you have to manually search for the target in the tpod anyway
Would be just as beneficial in the future for other aircraft too, like the Tornado Gr1/4.
For example. If I want to engage a destroyer in ASB. I could find the target on radar and it would display in the HMD/HUD. But Id still have to manually point the Tpod at the target and lock onto it. Which I could have done without ever using the radar in the first place
If the radar cued. I could lock the target with the radar, fly over the target and drop PW4s onto it without ever “leaving the cockpit” to have to mess around with the tpod. The QoL upgrade is rather massive.
In GSB, it would be more hassle than its worth even swapping to GMTI in the first place
As I understand it, the only winged/glided air-to-surface weapon the Typhoon has is the StormShadow?
MAKO is also being considered as a possible hypersonic missile
Taurus for the German Typhoon isntead of Storm Shadow
Spear-3 has just been test fired, so thats another option
and I think the Germans trialed HOSBO or HOPE? I can never remember the name
Both. HOSBO is the one with modular warheads (in theory at least, no idea what kind of warheads ones were ever made/tested) and HOPE is a bunker buster
What is the fundamental difference?
I can’t even express how much I doubt the snail will give us this.
Overall, it is extremely disappointing that there is no TV/IR “fire and forget” air-to-ground weapon. Theoretically, there is ARH, but the snail, as it seems to me, does not want to give it out of principle, since the Soviet + American TT do not have such a weapon, so the others do not need it either.
Much much later, SPEAR 3 without mmW seems the most likely like a longer range Brimstone with GPS and Laser guidance
Uh… Pass :D
For the msot part I think theyd be largely the same, but would still be nice to model some uniqueness between the Typhoons if possible
I think someone has told me before that Taurus could just about track moving targets whislt Storm Shadow cant, but beyond that im not sure.
Fundamental difference? None really.
Irl? Taurus uses a much more sophisticated fuze and it’s IIR seeker is exposed during its entire flight (no Idea if it actually does anything tho)
In game? They’ll look different lol
It’s still stupid, because one game mode hurts the capabilities of others. Literally nothing prevents the snail, as a convention, from giving all tanks dipole smoke.
Instead of shooting all the brimstones at once at the bots in the ASB, because of the TRB I am forced to fire brimstones at the bots ONE AT A TIME. To say that this RADICALLY reduces survivability is the same as keeping silent.
As far as I know, the Storm Shadow’s fairing is discarded when approaching the target, so I don’t see any fundamental difference here.
Yeah, this is what makes me so mad.
Not even worth equipping on either the Typhoon or GR4 in SB.
People always say “well if you want to play aircraft, play the airmodes” but never realise just how nerfed aircraft are because of tank modes
On the Storm Shadow its just Terminal, a final “Yes I am definetly, 100%, hitting the right target” On the Taurus it can make more corrections and much earlier. Probably wouldnt be a huge amount of differences vs something like a tank, but something much larger, like a ship. it probably would make a fair amount of difference
I made a report for LITENING air to air mode in general,
[DEV] LITENING TGP Missing Air-Air functionality
Now not entirely sure if the report will hold since I couldn’t find any documents that were usable for this so all there is to go off is the Rafael and Northrup Grumman websites and some news articles mentioning LITENING A-A mode. (With a bonus DCS video just to show how it would work not as actual proof).
But since A-A mode is the selected mode in the new TGP MFD screen for LITENING it would be nice for it to get it’s functionality (or some atleast) for all the aircraft that have LITENING.
But hopefully for the Typhoon we get it working for PIRATE natively, but given the disappointing state PIRATE is in currently I doubt we will get it anytime soon. Like - Eurofighter - Missing PIRATE output MFD screen for a start.
