Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 1)

Biggest issue ive noticed with the eurofighter is the Radar switching itself to IRST when it loses track instead of using TRACK MEM which fucks you over massively if you dont notice it immediately

I don’t know if I said it here or in another thread earlier but radar is “too good” for it’s own sake. Every time you pick up something that you cannot track it’s usually a missile from another player. Since tws isn’t fast enough to update it’s position either it just clutters your tws for 8 seconds until it fades away unless you shut your radar and turn it back on. Radars shouldn’t really pick these up, especially at longer ranges.

One other question is when will we see the ECM pod of the typhoon and the decoys from DASS

It is more than about time that ECM/ECCM in general is implemented in the game as a mechanic.
The game is not ready? Then make it ready as it’s your game to build, devs.

It would be rather difficult to strike a balance between something which vaguely resemble reality, while being understandable to the average player.

My question is more about the fact that in game missiles with laser + IOG guidance should not have a launch zone, and they just kept that restriction from missiles with laser-only guidance.

We can fire such missiles at some coordinates using the iog. Like here, for example:

But in that case, limiting the launch zone is pointless. The missile in this case should not care where this point is. It's not constrained by anything. It knows the coordinates and flies to that point. (In game IOG launch still limited)

This only makes sense with laser only guidance, because the missile simply won't see the laser on the second target.

They very much are limited by a launch zone.

Yes. And my point that they shouldn’t be limited because missile have IOG.

Even the eurofighter cant make brimstones good. They’re useful only if you do not have russia on the enemy team (since NATO SAMs are pathetic) or in the case nobody has bothered to spawn one in.

Paveway 4s are far superior when it comes to killing pantsirs as they dont have a mach limit on them. Climb quickly up to 14km and then drop them out of engagement range and wait.

Right - finally held my nose and started using the Typhoon. Bear in mind that this coming from the Gripen - which is basically a missile-toting go-cart and very much a lot of fun.

  • Flight performance. Seems a bit sluggish compared to the Gripen - I’ll put this down to not spading it yet. Still superior to most opponents especially if allowed to go 1 v 1 without getting third-partied out of the sky.

  • Radar. Good grief - it’s really not consistent at all. The only way I have ANY confidence in it acquiring and holding a lock is using the HMD PD. The other modes (particularly TWS) seem so unreliable I’m often spending more time trying to get the radar to work than actually flying the thing.

  • Stuff that goes dakka/boom/whoosh (weapons). It’s alright. Wish the Mauser had more ammo but that’s a ‘me’ problem.

brimstones have a mach limit?
that smells like BS

Brimstones don’t have a mach limit, was referring to basically every other guided bomb.

Watch out with the HMD PD, I find it switches from PD to IR an awful lot.
It’s very frustrating when you are at closer ranges and under pressure to get the shots off but can’t.

They have a limit of M1.4, not an issue on the Tornado but you might need to keep an eye on the Typhoon’s speed.

Getting the hang of her now.

Off topic here so sorry but I gotta ask:

Any thoughts on making a video about the M2KD RMV with AASMs? In all regards it’s worse than the Rafale for AASM delivery but that’s the fun part.

Ok off topic question asked, back to fighting euros in an unreasonably large storm

i am not even sure if gunjob has france researched, maybe if the indian one gets added

Jokes on you! India doesn’t operate M2KDs, much less M2KD RMVs.

The HAL Tejas can carry AASMs tho
