Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 1)

considering the whitish color of the glass i would bet that’s a laser one.

It is still not very clear if IIR one can really track moving target all that well. Gaijin could still do a Gaijin classic though, and add it anyway

Just to lower your expectations on this missile though :
fired low its range is 15km, high it is 70, but in most scenarios (ground RB), it would probably have a similar range to KH38, except it will either be locked by the 15km laser range lock, or it will be GPS and won’t be tracking moving targets. Important to note : it is subsonic during the entire flight too.

Still unecessary buff to CAS imo at this point

I kinda get it, because, well, if we had it ungimped and unleashed to the max, it’d ruin top tier for months, but equally… I doubt that.

I suspect that’s just a visual thing for the trailer so far, probably can do the “max loads” though why you’d want to idk…

Fixed your statement for you.

You sure about this? I’ve never seen any sourced claims about its speed, dont even know how its motor actually works, since ive never seen it fire after being dropped, and HAVE seen it fire on terminal approach, tho french mains have claimed its a boost-glide-boost flight profile (again, with no source, cuz only the british and german mains seem to source their claims in the WT community…)

(I cant post the terminal boost video because of forum rules for those wondering why I havent posted my claim. Just search AASM Strike POV, should be the first link)

All you gotta do is use some kind of AI or good photoshop skills to “unclassify” it :)

it is already unclassified.
it however remains restricted.

There was footage of a MiG 29 strike and the bomb came in fast.

With a contrail

Firstly, ITPSL has been… removed? But its integrated into the airframe so uh, thats new. Also I’m hearing that a few frames further on, the AMRAAM on the OWP has a BOL rail fitted, which I’ve only ever seen on a render?

Thats a BOL on the pylon that AMRAAM was just launched from right?

I wonder if thats been done so they can lock BOL behind a modification you need to research…

You are not surviving at top tier with 32 countermeasures I don’t care how cracked the airframe is.

Tell that to gaijin who still have repair kits and FPE locked behind research modules…

32 countermeasures for a stock Tornado F.3 late. And it’s not as maneuverable as a Typhoon. I don’t know what the Captor-M is yet, so I’ll assume the Tornado has a better radar. Yes, 32 countermeasures are a total pain, but it’s surmountable.

captor is gonna be like the foxhunter but better in basically every way

If it is at least approximately as fast and powerful, I will be very happy. Gripen’s radar didn’t impress me at all. And Captor and PS-05 have a common launch point, if I remember correctly.

allegedly it can keep up with early aesa and pesa radars so interpret that how you’d like :)

You mean like the F3 Late?

It’s what happens when Blue Vixen and Fox Hunter have a baby.

It will likely be the best radar in game when its added and remain the best non-AESA radar in game for the remainder of War Thunders life. (and whilst AESA will be better, it wont be a notable handicap either)

Its gunna be a true powerhouse.

Which tells me the Typhoon is probably gunna have Blue Vixen at launch :D

Uhm… probably not? The Rafale is coming with the RBE2 PESA radar, which Id be incredibly suprised if the CAPTOR-M was better than.

Then theres the Su-34’s PESA radar, which i admittedly dont have much info on, but seems to be a stellar radar in-game.

J-10B/J-11B that are coming likely have worse radars, though i know basicly have no info on them, so maybe they’ll surprise me. The J-10A already has a ±85 deg radar which are disgustingly good angles, tho the radar itself does have some issues (TWS scan volume is iffy at 40x10deg or 80x5deg which makes it a wee bit hard to find stuff sometimes)

Then theres the Kfir Blk60 that was leaked as an event vehicle for this month, coming with the EL/M-2052 AESA radar (our first fixed win AESA looks to be a premium! Who’s excited?! Hint: not me, I hope the leak is wrong) with a WHOPPING 200 deg azimuth (±100deg!!!) making it fully capable of notching plus a little more WHILE guiding weapons! (Such a great idea as an event vehicle gaijin!)

It’ll be good, thats for sure, how good im not sure, hence me wanting details, but the Rafale will surely have a better radar, and if the Kfir Blk60 does in fact come, it blows every radar in-game and not yet in-game out of the water for patches to come, likely not having an equal until other swivel AESA’s are implemented, such as the Gripen-E’s PS-05/A AESA, or Captor-E, which I dont expect to see for hopefully another year+…

From what I remember. Captor-M outperformed the Rafales early PESA radar by quite a bit

Seriously? Thats suprising, id have to see a quote to trust you on that no offense. Pretty sure avionics and air to ground capabilities have always been stated to be in the advantage of the Rafales until very recent Typhoon variants…

I’ve got no specific sources, only “forum gossip” and bits a pieces I’ve read around. But yeah. Im fairly certain that CAPTOR-M will likely be better than both the Rafale and Su-34s PESA in quite a few respects (but not necessarily in all aspects).

Think all the strengths of Fox Hunter combined with all the strengths of Blue Vixen and then made even better.

I dont think its until the AESAs are added that the CAPTOR-M will be out matched and Im not entirely convicned they are coming this update so far. But soon
