Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 1)

Yeah, Italy will be the real question.

to be fair UK has the better tornados with brimstones and PGMs, while of course this isnt comparable to the eurofighter it will be hard to manage because everyone will want its complete capability, at least UK still only seems to be the only ones with the double rail guided bombs

Its because AMK is made by Airbus but the consortium funds the whole thing.

But as for Brimstone i’ve got no idea why it was trialed on the German Eurofighters.

RAF has its niche but they need to quit with the inter-service politics to get more out of the bag, we haven’t got a US sized budget for them to be fighting over.

Yes that’s true, I do still think they should standardise them all or have them each have strengths and weaknesses.

AMK is primarily marketed for Tranche 3 and 4 Typhoons and we are a good way away from those so its not an immediate issue.

I think Ukraine has been a wake up call. Brimstones are getting tested on the Apache, We’ve seen land based launches used in Ukraine, So I reckon we’ll see a new ATGM launcher or something come into service eventually and we’ve also seen them develop a mobile air defence system that uses ASRAAM.

I’d like P3I as well as the stanadard ASRAAM, even if it had a worse seeker than the IRIS-T the flexibility might still come in handy, also the UK could do something like take 2 ASRAAM, 2 P3I and 8 Meteor, which would be utterly ridiculous.

P3i never existed. And we have ASRAAM csp that should be on par with other missiles. I have no data but it is a modern upgrade
Also why is this pic so blurry, it wasnt like that before

Ukraine yes, but the stupid MoD went with the US JAGM, a worse missile, for 90 million extra, although the Apache did test it so i’d argue its worth it on the British Apache’s. Rumour has it Boeing refuses to integrate JAGM but I haven’t seen proof of it.

They’ve already proposed Boxer with Brimstone I think they’re even developing it.

That would be a good idea for top tier AA.

Yea, no one will make asramm sam. Camm exist

I haven’t see anything saying it was built, but nothing saying it wasn’t but as far as Gaijin is concerned it probably wasnt even though its a modified ASRAAM. Very, very unfortunate.

We will see how they implement it, it should be okay.

Spoiler

Yep, in the thread for it, its basically the only option for a +10km SPAA system for Britain.

But thats going off-topic for now, but yeah, Brimstones are going to be fun to have in WT. I really hope we see a Gr9A with them next year

Thankfully the conflicts showed how important spaas are, now they are in development. Looking forward to my Iris T spaa launchers

So now, will we get CAPTOR M or CAPTOR E when we get typhoons?

I reckon first 2 M, the third will be E

So a long time for the aesa

Potentially, but I dont think its going to matter much. I reckon Gaijin will see No AESA Typhoon vs AESA jets as a fair fight. But I reckon that might one way we might get a Typhoon before the heat death of the universe

And you know what is sad? One of the newer version of MIG 29 gets aesa

Captor M is one of if not the best M-scan radar’s in the world. It genuinely compares favourably to the Rafale’s PESA.

Tranche 3 early would also have the M and then the 3A and the 4 would have the AESA.

I’d expect those at the same time as things like F-15EX, or maybe SU-30/J-11 they might give us the ECRS MK.1 rather than the two.

For Gaijin the Eurofighters may end up like the british phantoms with consistent incremental upgrades as they are so modular there’s virtually no restrictions between aircraft.
