Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 1)

Bet you have viewed the Typhoon release as a good-news/bad-news situation.

Good news - yay - Typhoon.

Bad news - you’re going to be driven up the wall by Typhoon-flavoured bug reports.

=)

I knew with the short windows we had to work with there would be some rough edges. I’m not upset about it, it will get there over the coming weeks.

Will still leave a bad aftertaste though :)

He should pour himself a cuppa - take his mind off things. Might I recommend this.

thats a storm breaker 2, not a spear 3

is it just me, or is the radar utter shit rn?

I haven’t false flagged any posts, I don’t know why it is assumed I am the one doing this. My posts are consistently flagged whether they have been on topic or not for the last week.

Proof

Its copypaste Gripen

really? ffs

Or more accurately, C&P of the Sea Harrier FA2.

Gripen has a C&P of the FA2 as well.

CAPTOR-M is a heavily upgraded Blue Vixen from the Sea Harrier FA2.

Where stats arent available for the CAPTOR-M, they use the stats from the Blue Vixen. But yeah, probably underperforming a lot and there are a number of bugs that need to be fixed. Various issues the CAPTOR-M has that the Blue Vixen doesnt

Hate the Gripen Radar you always forced to hard lock everything and the R-Darter is a nightmare in TWS mode.

Couldnt detect a helicopter hovering in ground battles yesterday…

Never been my experience, which scan pattern are you using? Typically longer shots I use the narrow scan for more frequent updates.

Yes typically a stationary or nearly stationary helicopter has very little doppler return. There are other things that can improve that, like the blades spinning but thats not modelled in game right now iirc.

That is wrong as the rotor blades create a pretty strong doppler return the moment they move in direction to the plane (from and to) with nearly supersonic speeds. Exception to that are blades made from fiber reinforced plastics which are mostly transparent to radar waves.
Additionally if visible the turbine blades of the engine create a very strong return and this can also and is being used for NCTI. From the sides the tail rotor creates a similar effect.

Edit: Meh, should learn to read xD
So there should be made an implementation for rotors and visible turbines to create a strong doppler return.

I don’t remember the Gripen radar being this bad.
Did anyone bug report CAPTOR-M?

Yeah, like Gunjob, never really had any major issues with the blue vixen. Had a game the other day with 4 AMRAAM fired and 4 kills scored including a very low flying Heli in a GRB match. Just sometimes needs a little nursing.

Reports are in as far as I am aware. Suspected cause at the moment is that the ins tracking time is half what it should be
