Yes, an easier way to put it…
They are level when the aircraft requires lift from them, they angle down when the stability margin reaches neutral and negative where downward force is required to keep nose from flipping up / causing pitch departure. They never really angle up unless drag is needed, because for pitching the canards can provide lift similar to the elevons on the F-16.

Dont know if u guys did see this already
its from a presentation for norway and put up on the web by an norwegian MOD
This is quite an interesting close up look
Not a huge amount of detail, but nonetheless a good video
can you add the “Eurofighter” tag to this post so it can be found together with my GAF one?
I’m gonna put this out there - the RAF museum has a document published with the timeline for testing on it. Might be able to glean useful secondary sources from it
Well I mean given the news
I think it’s safe to say if we don’t have an upgrade to Phantoms, Tornado, or a new aircraft such as the DA.2, the future of the British Tree is in a whole lot of doubt.
no point in adding this if it doesnt have weapons, radar, etc
unless gaijin does a Yak-141 i guess lol

that being said the block 50 seems to be close to the typhoon, so we might get a typhoon sooner then we might think, with reduced capabilites
I mean they have magically given it Sparrows despite the fact Block 50 can’t support them that I know of… soooooo
will be sad , that we cant fly around with iris t or meteors yet, but i will take what i can even if that means amrams (sparrows until amrams release )and aim 9ls
“reduced capabilities”… well ig yeah it would be nice to have a Eufi but like they’d really have to pull stuff out their ass for this to happen…

where do you draw the line?
does it get DASS?
PIRATE?
A2G?
Missiles?
Radar?
Countermeasures?
Engines?

best guess prototypes DA1 - DA5, those 5 spread around the nations
Maybe Gaijin will make DASS obsolete and never give IRIS-T & ASRAAM and Meteor.
DA1 and 2 would be useless in wt
only 1 and 2 had tornado engines
DA3 has the cannon but thats it
DA4 is first aircraft with MWS, AMRAAMs and ESM
DA5 is full tranche 1 standard

well we gotta wait and see i guess, problem with the prototypes just is it doesnt seem to be euqal if given out to the nations :/
Sparrow is an option on export F-16Cs, it’s just the USAF haven’t cleared it for their aircraft. Lockheed funded AIM-7 firing trials in 1989 for Block 30, for the sake of export to Egypt, Greece etc.
Iraq’s Block 52s have been photographed with AIM-7.
But since the F-16C “Block 50” being added here is lacking key blk50 capabilities like many munitions, ECM etc. and is really more of a Block 30 in terms of capability, I agree with the point that the door is kind of open for a Typhoon FGR.4 to be added with lesser historical ordnance: i.e. AIM-9L/M (instead of ASRAAM) and basic A2G with Litening+Paveway

I mean as I was suggesting on a discord, AIM-120A has similar range to AIM-7M, and whilst the Brits didnt use it themselves i’d be surprised if I learnt the Tornado would’ve needed major modifications to radar and airframe to fit them.
Seeing what Gaijin has in terms of past form i’d be surprised if we got DA.2 or any sort of Typhoon for another couple of patches.
alternatively we could just have Typhoon F.2 with a fictitious (that i’m aware of) AIM-120A and 9L combo.
neatly solves the problem of America being the only one with Fox 3s and a capability gap in the British, German and Italian trees at a single stroke
