Would you be able to explain the posotives of the 9x, as looking at it from a surface level, it just seems worse for a higher cost. its more expensive than an ARAAM and I RIST, less range than an ASRAAM, Less mobile than both maybe…
In what way is the Mk2 superior to the Mk1?
if i am right the MK2 comes with eletronic warfare capability, but germany is developing a modified mk1 with basicaly the exact same purpose
Yep, EWAR is planned for the Mk.1 in its Step 2 upgrade
And Mk.2 is only planned to come into service in 2030, while the Mk.1 comes with the Tranche 4 next year
MK1 uses the same backend as MK0, MK2 is a completely new radar which actually requires a nose change due to either it’s power output or size.
again, you cant say if that wont be the case for the EWAR either,
no no its been clear from the start the MK2 requires a new nose, which is extra cost which is why some have opted not for it.
yes thats why potential mki1 for those that dont want to modify their nose, The EWAR is seperate thing, which might require upgrades.
And even then we were talking about the AMK kit here
not about the radars, which at the end of the day, will perform exactly the same in war thunder propably
It says its a software upgrade?
mentions modernisation of the processor as well. I am not the most well versed.
But like i said earlier we were talking about the AMK kit and PIRATE. In game purposes the radars wont have much of a difference. Besides that germany might get a AEASA variant first since the british and italian one apparently need a good bit longer
That doesnt say anything about superiority. New nose could for example also just be because it uses the same repositioner as the Gripen Es radar instead of one designed for Eurofighter
There also is the CAESAR, a fixed AESA, that was mounted on DA5 in 2007
well UK has DA5 with ceasar and Italy has ISPA6 with ECR MK0. Not good as the ECRS MK1 but still better than nothing.
https://defence-industry.eu/ecrs-mk2-radar-integrated-onto-first-eurofighter-typhoon-jet/
We already have the first one with the Mk.2 fitted and integrated
Good
In game only thing that will make difference, is that capable of rotating or not, even won’t matter if you have AESA
DA5 is German
yeah, sorry I made a mistake, it was IPA5
Well for one aim9x was $399k in 2023 for the US, IRIS-T cost spain $434k in 2011. ASRAAM I’m not sure on there’s no good public data that I know of but I would imagine it would be comparable.
Secondly. You have no knowledge on how mobile they are, their datalinks, the quality of their seekers and the other tech that goes into them. Asraam for example relied on US seeker tech for a while and thus was covered under ITAR, not removed until the block 6 that entered production in 2022. US has had extremely good seeker tech for a long time. IRIS-T and Aim9X aare very comparable from publics data and have very comparable costs. ASRAAM does have excellent range, however its small surfaces and lack of thrust vectoring leaves it less able in the subsonic and very short range than the 9x.
To tar any of these missiles as “shit” is just pure nationalism
The fact he was brining up aim9x and meteor makes me think not, it seems pretty clear he’s trying to make a comparison of real life capabilities
Iris-T is now down to 200-250k per missle
