I think uniqueness should be maintained but that can be maintained in different ways, for instance the UK will obviously receive the ASRAAM (which i suspect will end up being different and largely worse) as opposed to the IRIS-T. Only the UK and Germany will receive brimstone but Italy and the UK to compensate will get an IRST module which Germany should imo lack because then it would have the every feature of the aircraft.
They’d balance eachother out but in different ways. When we start getting to Tranche 4 Typhoons Britain might get the Tranche 3A, so whilst some capabilities will be reduced, we will be the only nations with the ECRS MK2 as neither Germany or Italy have purchased the radar and there’s a very real possibility they may choose the MK.1 over the MK.2.
So the Mav was before the buff.
PARS 3 is still having issues then, probably separate.
Cause I can tell you out of the 6 Mavs I launched from A-10 yesterday on the 3rd, 5 killed targets, and the 6th? Well the target was alive when I shot, and died by someone else before it reached.
Does anyone know if the Eurofighter received dual-carry pylons for the Fox-2’s I could’ve sworn there was a picture of a Eurofighter with a dual mounted ASRAAM?
does exist yes, but isnt in official use anywhere because it would affect the flight of the eurofighter for the worse and would get to heavy if you stack enough missles
Yeah I’ve seen that but for now the verifiable maximum load is 6 Meteors and i think 4 SRAAM’s maybe 6 with those dual rails. In the future I wouldn’t be surprised if it materialises though as a force multiplier for the F-35, Tempest and FCAS.
Particularly as the UK is the only country funding METEOR integration on the F-35 and the US have overcharged and delayed it until conveniently a year after the AIM-260 is set to enter service, so Ben Wallace at least wasn’t keen on pushing more funding.
“uniqueness” would only hurt the performance of the individual aircraft. true uniqeness should be smth like the AMK on the 98+07
taurus is allegedly stronger and longer range with a more sophisticated warhead, targeting, navigation, fuse and generally a bigger size and ofc a turbofan instead of a turbojet
currently the Eurofighter is only cleared to carry 8 a2a missiles. either 4+4 ir/radar or 2+6 ir/radar. technically it is capable of carrying more missiles as the wiring and physical connection is there.
Probably, but they will lack Brimstone which feeds into my point about diversity, i think so long as we don’t get a model based on the German IPA variant which gets every feature, then the aircraft will be different but balanced.
Yep i saw that, but they differ from other Tranches and I believe diverge from the standard Eurofighter policy of any aircraft being able to employ the full Eurofighter weapons complement.
I think I’d wet my pants if we got a stripped down typhoon in the british tree.
It isn’t happening though. Sweden and UK are getting the grippen, it’s basically confirmed. Besides, i’m fairly certain they wouldn’t give the UK a typhoon without Germany, and they didn’t say Germany was receiving anything.
Actually, I dont think UK can get Gripen. South Africa’s Gripen was only armed with IRIS-T. They never imported AMRAAM or Aim-9. So UK is probably getting Sea Harrier FA2.
But I agree, all 3 nations probably coming together, but both Uk and Germany have 1 reasonable A2A addition left. So it cant be that long
