In the cockpit, the pilot throws them out by hand :P
Under belly where the targeting pod is.
Is that actually wired for weapons?
I could have sworn, I saw at least a model/mock-up on pictures from a fair.
The only thing I can think of that might be mounted there normally is a third Storm Shadow / Taurus, but I cant recall if Ive ever actually seen one mounted there.
It could be one of those cases where it can be done, but simply never done because tpod or fuel tank is better
Doesn’t the targeting pod communicate via the same bus as weapons? If the seeker picture of other (IR-/TV-)weapons can be streamed into the cockpit, a targeting pod should behave the same (it’s just a seeker without a weapon in that sense).
And wouldn’t the Taurus/Storm shadow be too wide to fit on that weapon station as it would collide with the lading gear?
no idea and no idea possibly
Hmm… Seems like that station is only wired for EW-/Targeting-Pods and fuel tanks. Don’t know if that’s changed on later tranches. At least I didn’t find any usage of weapons on that station.
Why would you want to lose a targeting pod though? 16 SPICE 250 + 6 Brimstones (which you’ll need a TGP for anyways) is a pretty hefty CAS loadout on its own
Now if we can just find a document somewhere that states Typhoons don’t need to slow down to Mach 1 to release SPICE 250 that’d be great…
The targeting pod can be put on one of the Belly AMRAAM slots
This is my primary gripe with them at the moment, but it will be on the Spice-250 end not the Typhoon end.
Can it?
You’ll have to provide evidence for that
That’s not something exclusive for the Spice, most bombs have safety limits which prevents accidents during releasing.
Spice is no different in this case.
Lmao what
Unless the weapon has been specifically designed for it like Paveway IV
I know, but a bomb so small and similar in size to Paveway IVs you’d think there wouldn’t be a limit
Exactly even then most of the time pilots do not attempt to release on supersonic mode in order to decrease the accident chances.
It might like look like small in game but in real life its size is not something to underestimate, not to mention it weights almost 300kg which is another problem if it hits your wing during supersonic drops.
SPICE 250 or Paveway? Can’t tell, because the paveway is slightly heavier than the SPICE 250 😅
Tbf i havnt seen it on an actuall plane.
But there is this
Spoiler
LDP=TGP

and i think there was a render with it on an EF EK
