maybe, but I guess its just to create some uniqueness between airframes, a lot of that is lost with loadouts already and for now, I dont think that small amount of lost Gimbal is that big of a deal. It would be if the Mk1 was fixed and the Mk2 was gimbal or something.

Mk0 is the original, Mk1 is developed by Henshold and Mk2 is developed by Leonardo (iirc)
There is some difference in the mount or something, there is a reason for the reduced gimbal on the Mk1
Idk if the mounts the issue, its the same mount as mk0 which has 200 for
And afaik that type of mount cant be made to rotate less, it just goes in a set path

The theory iirc is that Hensoldts 90 degrees refer to a „full power zone“ and 90+ is possible but not with full power. It sounds a bit like cope but it does kinda check out with the diagram Gunjob posted regarding the different ecrs

Mk1 is developed by hensholt on the Base mk0. Core features are a new multi-channel receiver and new broadband transmit-receive modules (TRM), which provide improved radar functions as well as extended electronic warfare capabilities. The main focuses in the radar domain are a more precise target recognition and classification, higher agility and further improved electronic protection measures (EPM). But still on the Same Base and Rotationel antena of 30°. ITs Just dosnt make any Sense to me why IT loses 10x10° Out of nothing XD.
We’re also losing future EW capabilities if they’re ever coming. Which I think they will.

Though on that front ,Germany is getting extra EW capability from the Arexis jammers that I dont think anyone else is doing

I just hate how Hensoldt got themselves the contract. Oh yea, see, OUR new radar can be easily retrofitted! (in two steps though, which makes it the same effort as mk.2, arguably more). Now look at them getting contract extensions for more money than Mk.2 producers will ever see.

It was an excuse to underfund EFT program. Times were too peaceful for them to think reasonably.

the thing is that they had caesar, which was an actual aesa radar for euro. but they never put it into service for no reason
