Thanks, chatgpt failed me on the gbu16
MMm, that 120C(presumably C5)? data actually looks about right tooo.
I find the fact that the meteor actually reaches hypersonic speeds when launched from very high alt (according to that study) more interesting.
I hope you aren’t using chat gpt for sources
ontop of that M1.3 isnt event that fast for that alt
Right, so is mach 8+ possible when launched at like Mach 2.3? I would hazard to guess it might
Only for the gbu bomb weight
I feel like that would actually be restricted by the throttle-able ramjet, there aren’t any sources that say the meteor is supposed to be Hypersonic, and the author states that in the simulation it’s modeled as a fixed thrust ramjet for comparison sake.
And the extra speed could just cause more drag causing loss in range anyway, meteor cruising along at M4+ is more than enough.
What’s the g overload on meteor missile
If the missile body even has the structural strength to go that far. I wouldn’t be surprised if it just falls apart in the hypersonic regime. Still interesting to think about how far the engine could push the missile if you disregard a couple things
This is why also in an environment with stealth aircraft the ramjet design might prove a detriment because you couldn’t take advantage of the full range (can’t get a track at 200km) and would be at a disadvantage if fighting at lower altitudes against solid propellant rocket missiles.
Makes sense they want an AESA on the Meteor and remote guidance trough the F-35 is considered to be the way forward.
I’ve seen 30g being mentioned somewhere on the Forum. But as far I’m aware there are a grand total of zero sources telling us anything concrete about it’s maneurvrability. You could try asking in the Fox-3 topic, maybe they have smth concrete
No clue, maybe the GBU-12 as dual?
I thing GBU-16 could be allready to huge for an double
JATM has a sustainer booster and then a primary booster which gives it the range.
Meteor uses an air breathing ram jet and unlike the others can glide and almost loiter before reigniting said ram jet for a terminal interception.
I think in game it will suffer as lower down it struggles to get fast enough for the RAM jet.
But up high its the equal of all but PL-15 and R-37M
None of these missiles are going to have realistic ranges unless Gaijin considers EAWAC aircraft off map providing DL.
i expect the thrust reduction with altitude hasnt really been taken into account here
This definitely sounds like you’re correct on that one, good point
Spoiler

not quite a meteor then
ITA could be. EF-2000 only with IRIS-T, Typhoon FGR.4 with ASRAAM and F-2000A with both.
Well, wikipedia says Italy doesn’t operate the ASRAAM
Why would they get it if Germany doesn’t?
IRIS-T can’t be that broken in WT right? I remember someone saying R-73 has slightly better low speed thrust vector control than the IRIS-T, so it wouldn’t be much different right?
It can still be flared (maybe re-implementation of flares) and can be kinematically defeated. And Gaijin probably wont model the RWR slaving 360 degree launch, like how they didnt do the towed decoy.
