Eurofighter Typhoon - Germany's Best Fighter Jet (Part 1)

i wonder if the colour of the missile body has anything to do with it. this one is white, others are grey. Black ones are for display only…
the black/blue ring for the live seeker is kinda weird to me because that looks like an advertisement at some expo like ILA Berlin with “Dual mode brimstone” written on it and “IRIS-T” on the iris-t. thats really a show-off kinda thing

I assume the black yellow yellow means live seeker, live missile because that’s what the ones used in combat in Ukraine have:

As for the blue: the RAF tend to use that shade of blue to indicate that something is inert. Pretty much all RAF missiles conform to that.

yeah the colours might be right but the advertisement on the side of it just doesnt sit right with me.

Just marketing presumably.

i still wonder if Germany ever actually bought them… like, the English wikipedia page says so but its wikipedia so who knows.

doesnt matter, just like the pgm 2000 if we see a picture of it being equipped it gets added to the loadout

hmm.
maybe. that plus the fact that the software updates that integrate the brimstone are on German Eurofighters as well

Depends on the tranche of eurofighter though. Germany didn’t get the PIRATE until a little while after unless I’m misrembering while other nations had it. So wouldn’t suprise me if it was a later tranche on typhoon that had brimstones on the German one

well of course we wouldnt Pirate IRST at the start, but all typhoons are brimstone capable

thats wrong. the Lw never got PIRATE. what you’re remembering is the rear DASS MWS sensor which only a handful of eurofighters lack now. more than half of the Tranche 1 eurofighters have it

I believe they do have PIRATE now

they do not.
here is a tranche 3A Eurofighter:

31+45, GS105

GS1-28 are Tranche 1
GS29-88 are Tranche 2
GS89-113 are Tranche 3A
GS114-143 will be Tranche 4

The PT3 has it sometimes, GS29 has it most of the time, GT26 sometimes as well but those are test aircraft(IPA3 and IPA7).

Yeah Germany reserves the right to mount it if they chose (but they do not because maintenance costs)

Yes. its a very modular aircraft. you can always add or remove things like that ofc at some sort of cost.
Spain for example uses dummy Laser Warning receivers because it would be cheaper to just replace the dummy than to replace the panel as well…(they’re wired for it anyways)

I do wonder what kind of effect the PIRATE has on the frontal RCS

Its something to consider, given that the Eurofighter has reduced RCS, but its not truly stealthy either

DECLASSIFIED, OK?

somehow stumbled across this image
German Eurofighter with Storm Shadow. Obviously for flight testing and integration but still funny to see

i feel like this could be a good showcase of how different Eurofighters can carry the same weapons with as “little” as a software update

definitly should get them then, same reasoning pgms were distributed , only because of test flights as well

Would need datalink for them to be much use in GRB i reckon. But would be awesome in SB for taking out bases cross map
