Really? I knew MICA NG IR had a long range but I thought IRIS T matched 9X and ASRAAM for range. Shows you what I know
If you mean the IRIS-T SLX yes but the normal plane launched version is at best medium range
SLX is not done yet…
I don’t think it comes close to asraam in range it is a close range beast though

its surface launched and not done so not really comparable to an air launched missile that is in service
iirc aim 9X is the shortest range one of the lot

Well if sb brings up that the IRIS-T is a “long range” missile, I am not gonna bring up a damn Mica to discuss whether he mistook it for another IRIS-T version (in development or not - information is still circulating out there)

I only have the most basic knowledge on these things. The wiki states 25km for IRIS and 25+ for ASRAAM. That’s all I know

its not the shortest range but definitely not as good as something like aam5
That is its theoretical range (launch, burn, glide, explode (battery dies)). You can half or even cut the range into thirds when it is manoeuvring, especially in a game like WT where planes pull 15 Gs
That holds true for all of these missiles. So it’d be 12.5km for IRIS T and 12.5km+ for ASRAAM. That’s like the max range I can get a lock with R27ET currently
These are for ground launched IRIS-T, so here the range is pretty much cut in half. Actual air-to-air IRIS-T is claimed to be “perfectly capable of hitting targets up to 25km”. The rest isn’t even useable on the EFT.
