again iris-t equal to asraams, meaning they come together, gajin knows that as well, the whole enxt generation of IR missles is coming together because nations will complain else. Just like R-73 and AIM 9M came together in the end
AIM 9X, python 5, r73m (if i got that one right), IRIS-T, ASRAAM, AAM-5, all together are the next generations of missles. And basicaly introducing any of those without the other will lead to giant drama it wont happen, all or none
Its literaly common knowledge, those are matters discussed to death and gajin is aware of those
yeah and we literaly told you they are equal, which pretty much means as well they are coming together
there are some stupid questions that can be asked and you find them. Because you ask questions that have already been answered
I don’t want to detract the thread from being overall a primarily Eurofighter thread but I can def see the AIM-9X Block 1 coming before the other IIR missiles since to my understanding it has no LOAL, datalink, or IOG. All characteristics that normally apply to the other IIR missiles. AIM-9X Block 1 is a weird in-between current missiles and proper IIR missiles. That is not also to say that AIM-9X just overall would be worse than the other missiles in terms of manueverability and range.
I can assume that RVV-MD will be able to fly longer distances than aim-9x, iris-t, asraam, since they have a range of 20km, 25km, 18km, and RVV-MD 40km
I agree it is kind of a step down, unless Gaijin does what they did with AIM-9M and not specify a specific variant and just introduce AIM-9X as AIM-9X block 2.
I expect Python 4 missiles pretty soon now too, and do not look forward to their arrival.
The maximum distance is indicated under the most optimistic conditions; this also applies to RVV-MD (40KM)
First modification of the R-73 flies at 20 km maximum.
It’s never been officially stated but its circulated a lot in UK military journals. Range is always stated officially as ‘in excess of 25km’ or ‘25km+’.
I expect in-game gaijin will just change things like the booster impulse and drag to match known values/estimates and we will end up with a missile that’s around RVV-MD level in range.
Yes, there are doctrinal differences for level of classification. MBDA have always underestimated the range of their missiles and often by somewhere close to half.
For example the Meteor missile is officially listed as a 100km+ missile by SAAB, but the Japanese tender for Meteor suggested in excess of 300km.
This is why I say Gaijin will probably just take the figures and plug it into the code and see what the resultant range turns out as. ASRAAM has very low drag, whilst having a high booster volume too.
Another factor about the Meteor is that it’s throttleable ramjet means it will be able to control it’s energy over said range, unlike current missiles it will be able to manoeuvre while in the terminal phase, making it nearly impossible to dodge
Meteor’s primary feature is not some excessively long range thats mostly bogus anyways (especially on single stage missiles like r-37, pl-15 or phoenix) but the high PK
