How is that not like that? Pantsir spawns in, shoots down a plane, starts rushing down a cap with the 30mm and dies, spawns in again, it gets detected because of the radar, dies.
Type 81 sits there, has to hope for a plane to come close, gets the kill, continues to sit there, game ends.
Next game, same thing, gets a kill, sits there, gets killed.
K/d stats don’t really make sense when one is far less likely to do so.
Please move this discussion to the proper thread or to PM. It has stirred away from the EldE 98.
Ah guess it doesnt then, maybe thats just for the mid to long range variants then.
from all sources i have seen the difference between LOBL and LOAL from this vehicle does not state that the missle traveles radar feed after launch, LOAL can also just mean that the missle launches, orientates and then activates the seeker( within the first 100 meters), which effectivly is a LOAL, even if you can not change the lock after launch

Edited the above post for more information. I think the SLM version has datalink though. :)
Edit:
I also think you’ve misunderstood the IIR functionality and how the missile achieves such great tracking despite flares, it’s got very little to do with distance of the lock. It’s more like it’s got a library of images in a hard rive that it compares to any heat source it sees and then only locks things that looks like a predetermined target.

It’s a shame you didn’t say anything about how you plan to model IIR.
So on the grounds MMW got a 3 paragraph explanation on why it’s too OP, I will assume we will get 100% modeled IIR that is unflarable
Yeah might be right, found this link Eldenhet 98 - Försvarsmakten
seems to mention LOBL and LOAL and in LOBL it just uses the IR seeker before launch and LOAL it ofc uses the IR seeker post launch.
i want to know the specs of that radar, most stuff i can find would show it to be the best ground based radar in the game
Be sure to look for the Giraffe 1X and not the Giraffe AMB radar, they are completely different radars but many sources just say “Giraffe” without specifying :P (The Giraffe 1X is still VERY good though)
Oh I know how it works, I only mentioned distance because of how gaijin models the current TY90 which has the same type seeker but isnt modelled in that regard (just functions like any IR missile)
My issue with range is, if LOBL like it seems to use the IR before launch, then covering a 10-12km distance means theres more chances for flares to counter the missile. I just dont expect gaijin to model its imaging ability because the TY90 hasnt got it since day 1
yeah iknow iknow :p
75 km range according to saab themselves which would be 30 km more than the pantsir for example
It’s the first vehicle of many with an IIR sensor, in the past we usually got information once more things were already announced. There’s at least the Chinese thing still coming.
Non IIR missiles with decent IRCCM are already pratically unflarable in game. Unless something is actually broken this won’t be any easier to flare than a SAM 1C or TY-90.
Where did you see that number? i’ve only seen 25km myself.
Edit:
Never mind, found it:

or germany just gets nothing XD. used to that

I’ve flared 1Cs before in game, TY90 no. but when you increase the launch range, you increase the time its seeing “flares” for the seeker to get spoofed basically. gaijin dont have the IIR seeker modelled at all in game, its just a VERY glorified value in code to make it “almost” flare resistant.
This is my concern with it having s 10-12km range, just means the seeker has “visibility” of the flares longer with the potential to be confused by it (assuming they flare at the beginning of launch phase) I could be wrong and it basically be a TY90 with 2x the range (which ide love) but I just dont get that feeling

Very fast updates as well. Unlike Pantsir, this one can scan the entire 70° elevation in one go. Max range is 75km I guess, but fighter sized targets are up to ~30km or so. Still plenty enough especially in WT.
looks like it doesn’t, 4 missiles, limited range
First MMW missile, the brimstone, had a 3 paragraph explanation (of mostly nonsense) in the dev blog it was announced in
