Spyder is by far the worst of the newer AAs. Python 5 still lacks datalink unlike the IRIS-T so it’s range is severely limited meanwhile it still only has the Derby-SR which not only suffers from being an ARH missile, but is also severely short on range, it should really at least get the I-Derby ER.
CS/SA5 I honestly quite like, while it still lacks NCTR, the missile is fairly decent after it got datalink and the gun is pretty nice, the main thing it suffers from is just range, but is really kinda unmatched in the short range defense role with the tools at it’s disposal at top tier.
Elde struggles as well for sure, but mainly in range and ammo. It’s still an IRIS-T missile, albeit much shorter in range, which is insanely good when it is in range and is an IR missile so doesn’t have to suffer from multipathing. I do think it probably should get 2 ammo boxes just like the MICA VL when it gets added(as it also only has 4 missiles per launcher, or give it an additional vehicle) that way it has more ammo to survive against the current meta of just overwhelming AAs. The range on the other hand is something that can’t really be fixed, better off waiting until the Swedish SLM gets added, if they opt to add it since it’s currently on order.
Tbf the Elde has a huge advantage over these 2, its small. Sure it cant climb 90% of hills, also has the shortest range missiles and the least ammount but it is small, people often dont see it compared to those two. I would ask you to actually compare them if youve played both before using statshark lol. Besides i never see Spyder players shoot recon micro, i see Elde do it a lot though.

That is my mistake then, Sweden is one of the few I don’t really play so my point of view on the Elde was more from an outside observation so I more or less assumed it had Datalink being an IRIS-T missile.
But, that doesn’t necessarily negate all my points since I did fully agree it lacked in range like the other 2 AAs mentioned, all that changes really is what I mentioned about the datalink. Spyder still sits at an entire .7 BR higher so lacks the capability to down tier it despite having similar ranges to the Elde, along with being a far larger target to the Elde.
You’re also greatly underselling the range, the Elde doesn’t get the booster to help with speed, so what happens is it fails to hit any jet not going subsonic as anything past 6km is impossible to hit less its a drone, and its not cloudy.
Lets also not forget it only has 8 missiles with the ammo box and the aforementioned mobility problems make it impossible to leave some maps spawn so please do show me where the Elde is good again because it really seems like you have no idea what you’re talking about.
8 missiles will never make it better than any other SPAA that can carry upwards of 16 especially since no one else is as short range as the Elde for a rank 8 vehicle.
Elde should be lower than Spyder but Spyder has no right to sit at the same BR as the SLM thats a compression problem though unfortunately just like the Type 81

You will always have a vehicle that is the worst in a catagory, doesn’t mean it should get buffed
Some vehicles just shouldn’t be added the Elde is one of them. No reason to buff it unless everyone else gets something like that

Don’t believe I said anywhere at all that the vehicle itself was good, in fact the only of the 3 AAs that I ever mentioned was good would be the CS/SA5. I specifically said the missile itself was good, but only when it’s actually in range, and if you think by range I meant maximum then forgive me for not being specific as I forget WT players like to just press the trigger the moment a lock is given rather than waiting for the most opportune moment.
The Python and Derby of the Spyder also don’t get a booster being the short range variants of the missiles so also have pretty poor acceleration and are heavier missiles. Albeit I’m struggling to find the exact acceleration of the missiles. While I’m not exactly sure, I think only the newer long range ARH SPAAs and SLM have boosters.
Which is why I agreed with the suggestion it should get 2 ammo boxes, while that still won’t bring it up to exactly the lower end of SPAA ammo, it’ll at least give it a better fighting chance. Overall while I do think the Elde was nice to at least see added despite it’s performance issues, it by far doesn’t solve the AA issues Sweden has just as with some of the other nation’s like Japan and will just be stuck in the AA abyss until Gaijin finally decides to add something actually competitive for the top tier meta like those other nations.
I like claws but yeah, its pretty bad cause the C-7 act like C-5 and if i could just load 9x i would lol
