A prototype would be cool to make them visually a little bit different.
Totally agree, +1.
The PT-76 is an obvious choice. (5.3) It’s important to note that German also received early PT-76s in addition to their PT-76Bs. These early PT-76s would be unstabilized and could allow for a lower BR of maybe 4.7/5.0. Unfortunately, no images of these early PT-76s in East German service seem to exist, however, their existence is pretty much certain since East Germany received their first PT-76s in 1956, meaning that these PT-76s probably didn’t have HEATFS either as that was just barely being introduced the same year. The stabilized PT-76B didn’t exist until 1961, with East Germany receiving those in 1964.
Regarding another M41, the German M41 we have in-game is actually a German upgraded version that added smoke launchers. Gaijin could add a non-upgraded M41 with only solid shot to back up the PT-76. (5.3)
The German Border Guard also used around 100 Saladins under the name Sonderwagen III. This one could replace the Puma at 3.7 and allow it to move up to around 4.3/4.7, where it would still be incredibly effective.
Spoiler
East Germany used UAZ-469s fitted with SPG-9 recoilless rifles. Depending on how Gaijin models it and the ammo it gets, this little guy could fit anywhere between 4.7 to 6.3
Spoiler
The Kraka Type 640 with the M40 recoilless rifle could also possibly slot in somewhere between 3.7 and 6.7. It has a very powerful weapon but no armor, poor firing angles, and a terribly mid top speed of 55kph.
Spoiler
This last one is mega controversial and thus not advised but still valid. Germany actually trialed at least 2 EBR (1954)s. I know the EBR (1954) is 6.7 but it’s also widely considered to be over-BRed. I know how sad this sounds, but if Germany were to receive an EBR (1954) the BR would go down to around 6.0.
Spoiler
I wrote a suggestion for an Sd.Kfz.234/4 armed with the AK7B 75mm, based on the KwK40, but it was not approved.
Essentially its the Sd.Kfz.234/4 with a slightly shorter reload time, slightly better penetration, and faster traverse. The AK7B was constructed at the very end of the war, with 4 examples being made. There were plans to mount it on the Sd.Kfz.234/4, but they would never come to fruition as the war ended before any feasibility study could finish.
Would love Luchs.
