Domestic Hungarian Fighter: WM-23 Ezüst Nyíl

Nothing in particular, other than by your own post it had an aerodynamic issue that caused the only one that existed to crash.

I wouldn’t call it an aerodynamic issue, it looked attractive, but also flew well. The crash was caused by resonance/vibration issues breaking off an aileron, not by an aerodynamically poor design.

Those kinds of vibrations are usually caused by an aerodynamic issue creating some sort of buffeting. It was very common in WW2 prototypes and most times the design team were able to fix it.

Ok, I think we’re referring to slightly different things when we are saying “aerodynamic issues”. Anyway, I do think it looks really cool (as do most people I’ve talked to about it), others say it looks a bit like a radial engine-d Spitfire. I can see why they nicknamed it “Silver Arrow”, because it does look really sleek and fast.

+1. Hungary’s WW2 section of the air sub-tree has more native designs than expected, and these need to be prioritized over copy paste/aircraft from other perspective nations (Czechaslovakia, Poland, Yugoslavia etc.)

Here’s the statcard I made for the WM-23. I am really hoping that it gets added soon now that the Hungarian Aviation Subtree is coming!

I would literally do anything for the WT developers to add this to War Thunder. More Hungarian planes would be great in my opinion

The WM-23 Ezüst Nyíl is coming in the upcoming update “Ninth Wave”!!! After 2.5 - 3 years of waiting patiently the dream has materialised into reality (or virtual reality I should say), thank you all for your support for my suggestion, it has paid off!

Congratulations on having this suggestion implemented. I will be looking forward to playing and spading it.

The funny thing about this plane in WT, BVV_d said on the stream: “our Hungarian leadership Anton was very happy that we would finally have an aircraft fully developed by Hungary” 😆

Props why they taken the longer unique route than the quicker imports route lol

Saying that though I do hope we do see lower ranked imports though

It is also TT I believe, the only premium props was the japanese 210 and some random Ba.65 variant.

Yes all Hungarian planes will be TT

Is the in-game model of the WM-23 missing the wheel covers when the landing gear is retracted? Or are they not supposed to be fully covered?

In War Thunder.

In all of these images/depictions of the WM-23, it has the extra outer wheel covers that allow the wheels to be fully covered when retracted:

In these however, it does not have this extra wheel cover, so the wheels are slightly exposed when retracted:

I’m not sure about this image, I don’t see the extra outer wheel cover on the wing, but it could be there but hidden by the shadow:

The question is did they model it right or wrong?
