[Development] Mosquito F Mk II, FB Mk VI & FB Mk VI ASH: Nordic Wooden Wonders!

Did the british even use the FB mk 6 with thimble radome?

There is nothing wrong with having minor nations in this game. The main issue is that the core game play of WW 2 is based on major/main nations of WW 2 and their military hardware - and there are just 5:

US/USSR/UK & GER/JP

All other countries were either just a few days / months active (like FRA, NL) or were equipped by US supplies & hardware. Finland & Italy are imho the sole exceptions as they bought GER hardware (FI) or were provided with them (IT) AND had at certain areas (ships & fighters) competitive domestic hardware. China had zero competitive domestic hardware in WW 2, same as Israel.

So as wt is not era based i have to fight with or against nations which not even participated (like ISR or SWE) or i have to fight with or against nations in hardware they acquired years after WW 2 ended (like FR, CHN, ISR).

Therefore adding a nation like Norway makes sense from a Cold War perspective - but a WW 2 plane like a Mosquito belongs to the fellow UK players as they should cover the former Empire and nations which operated hardware within their squadrons.

So adding Norway to Sweden leads in this specific case to the fact that you can face similar / identical aircraft from 3 nations (UK, CHN, Norway)flying for different sides in one match. Not my cup of tea.

While I also dislike this kind of situation, the main problem at hand is the effect this copy pasting has on sim battles.

Realistically a lot of vehicles and in some cases even certain nations should be banned in sim battles to prevent confusion, at least in WW2 and early cold war brackets.

For later brackets it is a lot more realistic to have the same vehicles on both sides due to exports and the reunification of East and West Germany.

At the very least Gaijin should start including flags of minor nations (subtrees and one-offs) in the match-up screen, so people know about potential imposters.

Yeah, i have an open report from the old forum with basically the same sources. I believe @Optical_Ilyushin have forwarded it.

The heaviest torpex warhead was too heavy for wartime carrier aircraft, but there was the 196 kg one, as stated in the report you linked. And later torpedoes, one which included a parachute, could be added.

Furthermore i believe the MAT gear should be added to the mk XII as well, since the firdt iterations of it was created on ghe late 30s. There is also a hinged air tail (HAT) supposedly used for the internal torpedoes on the Wellingtons

What would the MAT do for it? Higher speed drop?

I believe that yes, along with a higher drop altitude

Also not to mention the modeling of drum control gears, although the drop characteristics may consider those already

I’m sorry the what?

Very pleased to finally be seeing more Mossies in game! There are many aircraft where we only have one or a handful of variants which could (should) be added and it feels very shallow. Hope to see more like this!

Nice! More Mossie variants… though hopefully all existing and new models that use the existing models will get a new 3D model rework. Sorely needed.

It currently have the Mk XII on the dev server as of 2.48.0.23.

Aaaaaaw. Has it been bug’d get?

Yes, it is bugged.

No I know that but a report for it to get the Mk XV?

Dont think its been done yet, but i am afraid it will be passed to the same pile as your report of XVs for the Beaufighters…

Edit: Its got mk XV on the dev now, but without a tail

You’re not wrong. Fokker G.1A was the only original aircraft added to the tree as the other Fokker was already a prem in game in the Swedish tree.

This is not the first time “the snail” has done this either.

There is nothing original at all in the Finish or Israeli aero trees. All Israeli flying machines are copy/paste variations of machines in the German, French, British and US trees (maybe true of tanks too but I have no interest in that so don’t know). The interesting Finnish aircraft were Swedish prems long before the Finnish tree.

The last new truly original branch was SA ground, but that has now disappeared with the UK ground reorganisation.

China has a couple of interesting aircraft (P-66, V-11/12, Q-5, J-11) but isn’t much better.

Indeed. There is a reason I still have none of the benelux tanks even researched ( I started using ground research for helis after getting all the french tanks) and have none of the benelux planes from the meteor onwards purchased (might get the squadron f16 because magics)
