[DEV] Thai BTR-3E1 IFV - Feedback and Discussion

No irst capability?

Maybe our friend with the Shturm turret documents can check if it is supposed to have NVDs and target tracking.

Ermm wth

The problem is that I’m not sure whether this would work system-wise/technically in War Thunder, because the BTR-3E1 (and other vehicles with similar Ukrainian combat modules that could appear in the future) does not use the usual «gunner + gunner optics» and «commander + commander optics» setup.

The combat module uses the «Trek-M» fire control system, which duplicates not only the controls but also the image from the sighting module onto the commander’s screen. However, in the game, when controlling the vehicle as the commander we observe and control it through the «Panorama-2P» panoramic sight, which introduces parallax (according to the rules of realistic battles).

In reality, it should look the same as when controlling the vehicle from the gunner’s position - without parallax and with the thermal channel - because both the image and the controls are duplicated on the commander’s display.

I assume that in the game it should work like this: the commander, without the duplication mode enabled, would use the «Panorama-2P» optics without night vision devices and with parallax. When the control duplication mode is enabled, the commander would instead use the «Trek-M» fire control system, with a view identical to the gunner’s (in realistic battles), including the thermal channel and without parallax.

I am attaching photos showing the placement of the screens and control systems for both the commander and the gunner inside the BTR-3E1, as well as in-game screenshots showing the crew roles and modules.

They both should have NVD, the Panorama-2P camera is capable of it too and the driver can install a NVD periscope but yes, agreed to the above with the FCS. I’ve seen that before, it’s in one of my suggestions, I have to find it

So does the BTR-3E1 in WT just not have thermals anymore??

Regarding the «Panorama-2P», I only have information that it is a television system. Could you please share a source confirming whether it also has night vision capabilities?
Later, I plan to create a bug report regarding the control duplication system in the BTR-3E1.

Thermals and NVD are seperate

I’ve gotta track it down, but here’s some images for fun:

Not official source but fun read:

But the driver NVD is an easy fix, they can just swap in NVD periscopes like any other BTR

Link doesnt work

It looks like they have restricted access to the bug report.

what was the bug report for?

In general, this is what was described in the bug report:

From my own account, I still have access to the bug report, so I am providing a screenshot of it here, including the response from the bug report system manager.

Spoiler

(I also noticed that the video has disappeared from the report. In that video, the commander was firing from his position using the thermal imaging channel of the «OTP-20» optics. The muzzle flashes from the 30mm cannon characteristically occur on the right side, because the module itself is located to the left of the gun-unlike the «Panorama-2P» panoramic sight, which is positioned above the gun.)

Dont forget about the potential btr-3 with the 90mm cockrill turret. They never operated it, but i think they did test it.

Here, thai soldiers trying it with the 90mm cockerill turret.
But even cooler :
Here the BTR-3E with cockerill 30mm presented by cockerill… it could be added in the same logic as the Stingray to Belgium (since cokerill is Belgian) :

an unammed turret on a EFV could be a great addition in the France tech tree.

Ya thats another cool btr-3 variant they could add to thialand.

Plus it looks like these btr variants might be a little more armored.
