I still think the same way, it is a recon vehicle, not tank destroyer…
But i guess i have an answer…
They placed it in TD branch so the players must research the WHOLE FU#ING TECH TREE to get top tier with good light tank. Think about for a second, to move to 8 rank you need 5 vehicles at 7 rank and there are ONLY 5!!! vehicles at 7 rank without squadron and you need to research 4 branches without any other options( if you have sguadron you can research 3 branches but it shouldn’t be the solution…) and the TD branch isn’t needed for you as whole if you dont want it and want only top tier. Now you MUST RESEARCH THE WHOLE TECH TREE TO GET A FULL TOP TIER SETUP and this is better for Gaijinf coz you will spend more time or more money or both at the same time and this is what they want from you…
This is only my opinion but personaly i dont see any other reason why gajing put Jaguar it Tank Destroyers branch and not in Light Tanks branch
Or players could maybe just learn to grind evenly. I never understood the act of hyperfocusing a few lines of a TT and usually leaving your line-ups quite dry for each individual BRs.

My only assumption is because it’s a missle-carrying vehicle with missles that can ignore armor (so kinda can be considered a tank destroyer) and the left side has no vehicle like that. I know this logic doesn’t apply to other trees, but that’s the only thing I can think about aside from wanting players to grind each line.

I understand this and im tottaly okay with this when you have differebt options… If they want players to grind full tech tree then they should start ban for 1 spawn in battle… But noone will do that, coz more then 50% of players leave after 1-2 deathes and there are a very few players who play even after 5 deathes and with tech trees should be the same, if player don’t want to grind whole tree—no problem, research 3 branches and you’re fine, if he want to grind whole tree- here you are 5-6 branches to grind and noone gonna stop you.
But we don’t have this options atleast for France…To be more specific, only for France… In any other tree you have atleast 2 options how to research tree to tops.( you need to research around 3-4 branches but you have 5 of them and you can choose which you want to research) For Germany atm you can get to top tier with only 2 branches (leo 2s and AAs and you can search to tops with only these two branches, thanks god Gaijing trying to change this with moving some vehicles in tree) but for France you now need to research whole tech tree…
This is NOT right and it needs to be changed but i dont think if it will be changed…
Gaijing could change this for France by adding the Jaguar at TD branch at 7rank but NO, they added it to 8rank at TD branch so you still dont have any option but now you need to research the WHOLE tree for top tier recon vehicle with autocannon… They dont want to decrease requierments for rank 8 to give players options and dont want to add more vehicles to give players options…

Irl, the EBRC Jaguar is supposed to replace both the Amx-10RC and the VAB Méphisto, so it is a 50/50 decision i guess.
i do believe is probably because it was made to replace the amx-10rc (has more behind it) the ERC-90 Sagaie (not in game but would be cool to have) and the vab hot vehicles so i think gaijin has seen the mephisto has nothing after it and chose to place the jag after since it is also replacing that role
