Deep Strike: Attack and Defend Important Infrastructure!

I’m talking for the F-4E since that’s what I know better

Missed opportunity to let us play the F-117 to eliminate anti-air defenses !

No need to pollute the gamemode

those rapiers are definetly for new base defence because they’re the turrets
phantom vs mig21 is simply good fun for vietnam war roleplay
and defenders are having a hard time even with more migs

I’m watching some gameplay, and I must say, it looks extremely one sided and unbalanced. F4s against a swarm of MiGs. Helis with pathetic 3 km range TOWs against Rapiers and jets. So many missed opportunities to add planes like the F-111 or F-117, actual bombers instead of fighters.

Okay so I love to see gaijin experiment and try more modes but this is one step forward, two steps back to some degree.

The SEAD event last time was onesided at equal teams and gaijin changed it to be 16v12 which helped but was still stacked in the Soviets favor, I don’t understand why this was reverted back to 16v16, the defenders are at an advantage with the AA backing them up and no ordnance weighing them down.
Especially since everyone goes US, having smaller Russian teams would also help queue.

The helicopter is still useless, the guided munitions are vastly outranged by the AA and loft volleying unguided rockets still requires you to get in range of AA and is a fraction of what the phantom can carry and lob from high altitude.

The attackers had some small advantages when bases were spread out across the map and defenders were stretched across dozens of kilometers but everything is now concentrated on one mega base with 120 individual buildings to destroy while evading defenders, rapier missiles and shilkas guided by the eye of god.

On trench runs skimming the deck you don’t have time to adjust to hit intact areas, you just have to drop and pray and high altitude attackers where you are lobbing from distance the smoke obscures what is still intact and what is knocked out.

That part is realistic but when attackers need to level all of them its one more thing stacked against the attackers.

Also protip for US players who haven’t hit airfields in sim before, bind this to something if you haven’t

Cycle through your weapons to the rockets and have fun as you vomit near 300 mighty mouses in seconds from high altitude using the computer.
Rapiers suck launching up, the shilkas can’t get you and Mig’s RWR and radar missiles suck and if you draw them high your teammates dogfight sparrows are vastly superior.
If they look up and know how to use their radar of course which is the big question.

Agreed,

The gamemode should be about how ground attackers interact with this SEAD gameplay and not how fighters interact with them,

The 117 is way out of place in this game mode. F-111 would be nice but realistically the F-4 is the best option

This looks to be a late 60s/early 70s Vietnam role play scenario, with the f4E and the mig-21bis. Adding stuff like the tornado and the f117 is dumb because those are much newer

Imo they just have to nerf the Shilka, and allow AGM-65B

But why does it have to be that era.

Though Jag, Buc, Harrier, etc all from that era. There were more aircraft flying from 1955 to 1975 than just the F-4E.

Though Tornado entered service in 1979. So only 4 years “newer”.

@MJPIA put it best, the bases need to be spread out like the SEAD event was with SAMs, everything being centralized in one point is way too chaotic. Add more bases and spread out the players across a larger area, or drop the amount of defenders to 12 or 10.

They should also change the AH-1 for something better, TOWs are horrible to use.

Id take a phantom over every single one of those every time. Your facing MiG-21bis, F-4E is the best option without being broken

Buzzing! Thought the last SEAD event was a good change up, actually made me go and finish an air tech tree when I started to run out of steam! Roll on no markers and 3rd person!

Would love to see this but GRB version.

Thats not the point.

If this is about testing mechanics to potentially add to ARB/ASB then it wont be the F-4Es focusing on the ground attack, it would be actual ground attackers. At 11.3, it would be things like the Tornado, F-111 and Su-24.

The focus should really be on how the aircraft interact with the AI ground defences and less so how the F-4Es interact with the Mig-21s.

You dont need an entirely new gamemode for that.

what would it be like in GRB?

you mean the F-4 Phantom II fighter-BOMBER?

Yes, I know US mains are bad and usually jsut base bomb because they cant engage in A2A combat but you are entirely missing the point.

ARB is DOA for most if not all ground attackers. New gameplay options are actually needed for them.

ASB is boring as hell for all ground attackers and again, they need new gameplay options.

Aircraft like the F-111, Tonka, B-66, Su-24, Su-17, Jag, Buc, etc etc etc really need new gameplay options

Allow AGM-65B and Hellfires to suppress air defenses so that bombing is actually possible. Like @Morvran said, the mode should be more about how the players interact with the AI units as opposed to how they interact with enemy players.
