Dassault Rafale - Variants, Characteristics, Armament and Performance

sraams are likely that way more due to balance than gaijin not wanting to, the aircraft that carry them are already mediocre airframes at there respective brs, increasing the range of the sraam would make the already pretty strong missiles probably some of the best at the br range forcing the two planes to go up in br, this would make them pretty much unplayable as they will be put in a matchmaker where they will: struggle to catch anything, not have the flight performance to keep up with the other planes, and neither have flares.

also those time frames are not exactly uncommon when it comes to these things you can find accepted reports dating back years for every other nation too, not something unique to the brit tree

would create a mess for balancing stuff like Hunter F.6.

and it took me 3 years to got CCIP+Radar on Etendard IVM using a Pilot Manual and a Detailed scheme of aircraft,… so Gaijin really just don’t work unless they have confidence in reports,… (as such @DirectSupport makes a great job).

I dont see why. You get superior missiles like R-60s and Aim-9Gs at the same or lower BR.

but with fairly less capable aircraft.

Not really. France has a Hunter F6 at 9.3 (9.0 in SB) and the Hunter FGA9 is 9.3 (in RB at least) and the Harrier Gr1 has no CMs at the same BR as the AV-8S and AV-8A with 240 CMs.

Neither aircraft are overly special and underperfroming quite a lot at their current BRs. Increasing the range from 800m to 1.6km is hardly game breakingly OP. Now giving them their historical all-aspect ability. that would be an issue, but the range? Nope.

likely this is due to the heat signature changes based on speed of objects

Rafale guys how well does the Rafale do against the likes of the Su-34/Su-30 etc.
Took the Typhoon 2 turns to get behind a Su-34.

Just wondering if that is the case with the Rafale?

Never got into a dogfight with either tbh, just a Su-27SM recently, which I got in a single turn (MICA EM + HMCS rules).

Nice! In ground battles the Typhoon really struggles and with the Su-30 R-77-1 makes it very dangerous

R77-1 really are a ;middle ground between aim 120 and mica. great range and great offbore capabilities. Can’t be used the same way as the mica in very close dogfights, but in most engagements its just as good in close range (unless in 1 circle dogfights but then there’s the r73)

No, it can be and is pulls nice amount of G and can be used in close range along with the R-73.
Difference is the Typhoon cannot avoid it at those ranges :(

Your doing something incredibly wrong if that’s happening I happily sit on the back of all flankers before the first turn is even complete.

Sorry for the low quality, I had to downscale to post this :), I have to agree with you, these R-77’s can pull some insane turns (not like micas ofc) and hit, like it hit the poor gripen in this video haha.

(My bad if you guys might consider this off topic, I just wanted to contribute to Vizender’s argument)

Do you have the Typhoon?

In ground battles so that’s with ground attack munitions.
The Su-30 can beat it close range and Typhoon doesn’t have HOBs or Missiles that can pull more than 20G

I wouldn’t be saying any if I didn’t have it. I use it for CAP in ground battles.

Exactly and nice flying!..Makes it very hard for the Gripen and Typhoon as they only have 9Ms that don’t pull very well and 120s that are poor within 5km :(

You just saw what the Su-30 does to the Gripen and the Typhoon currently is borderline/worse in dogfighting.

You cant really defend vs a Su-30 with that Radar and missile combo. It is as dangerous as the Rafale (only like everything Russian more plentiful)

Su-34 can also cause Typhoons problems again superior Radar and the R-77 and R-73 combo is no joke.

it is trivially easy to beat an su30 in a dogfight with a ef or gripen, infact its trivially easy to beat anything in a dogfight with the ef, take like 5 minutes to learn the weaknesses of whatever your fighting and it becomes a guaranteed win for you.

I don’t need to watch a video to know what they can do. If I felt they were a problem in a dogfight I’d mention it but they are not. Considering most merges are starting at Mach 1 plus as all anyone ever does is cut tree tops at Mach Jesus. if you aren’t air braking and getting your speed down to pull in harder and start turning in on them in the 1st circle idk what to say. Because that’s how I’ve been dealing with fighting them and well it’s working very very well. And you can comfortably sit on the tail of them for the rest of the fight unless you make some absolutely silly move.

They pull as hard as Typhoon now, they pull more AOA in places and they don’t have the super fun 25% engine power loss when pulling high AOA.

You also don’t always know when you are going to merge as the Radar is blind. You are trying to find jets using the RWR
