F18 jumpscare inbound
It’s gaijins secret way of teasing the F-22…
Honestly, wouldn’t even be surprised. Yanks have been crying about it since the last update and before.
Leaked F3.2. This thing’s gonna be 2000D RMV’d so incredibly hard.
Nah, it’ll drop relatively correct, except for energy retention.
Then to account for this, they’ll nuke the FM and remove the more effective missiles, as well as toning down countermeasures. Instead of addressing the major issue with the FM. Just given what happened to the other scary eurodelta.
And it won’t have its SPECTRA integrated at all, because its new mechanics for a non-big 3
Id expect it to just be a slight improvement over the current J-10A. Likely very similar to the J-10B.
The Rafale and J-10’s have very similar canard/wing layouts, similar TWR’s, and similar wing loading. The two obvious differences i can point to is the wider rafale body for the twin engines vs the J-10’s narrow single engine body, and possibly the shape of thr fuselage over the rafales intakes, which I assume might act as some kind of LERX, which if so, should make it superior in the 1c?
I dont think the J-10 can supercruise either so the rafale will have that going for it.
What radar does the leaked variant have?
It’s the usual PESA from the F1to F3R for France (with some F3and all f4 getting AESA)
It is definitely not missing 30km at 10/12 thousand meters.
Also Magic 2 & MICA EM is all that’s necessary.
It’ll have a great flight model [compared to DCS’s mods].
I strongly suspect any and all next gen IR missiles will be tech capped the same way Stingers are - just tracking suspension + gatewidth for their seekers.
The double IRCCM system already make the few missiles that have them impossible to decoy in WT. This wouldn’t be fun.
The only thing that keep the TY90 in check is that it’s mounted on a rare Helicopter at top tier. It’s incredibly deadly, I don’t want to see anything close to this on a supersonic platform.
I repeat myself but we. do. not. need. a. guaranteed. kill. missile. It’s not fun. The current Air modes are already bursting at the seams.
There are countermeasures for these, they simply need to get off their ass and model them.
And how many planes can carry them ? Top tier doesn’t exist in a vacuum, there’s a whole BR spread below them.
Well, all planes carrying BOL carry a type of countermeasure to these missiles, assuming BOL is updated to be modeled properly. So that’s a fair number, more if they spread BOL to all aircraft that can carry it. We’d have to ask someone familiar with Russian systems if they’ve an equivalent. And there are other systems I lack the familiarity with (or awakeness) to comment on.
Russian planes barely have an equivalent missile m8… they dont get into IIR seekers until the R-74M2 iirc.
And btw, for those saying theyd be modelled as seeker suspension + FOV reduction, we alreqdy have a missile for fixed wing jets that does that in the game files (Python 4) and its not IIR irl, so gaijin would either be massively nerfing all future western IR missiles, or Russia just wont really have anything to compete going forward.
I am referring to the countermeasures, not the missiles. If you’ve information on the CMs, feel free to pitch in. Otherwise, not much point in responding with comments on ordnance.
What are the capabilities of the MICA IR?
My point was generally that they’ve barely scratched the surface of producing missile seekers equivalent to those seen in widescale service 20+ years ago, so I have my doubts they have advanced “smart” flares like BOL and the likes as well…
Id be happy to be proven wrong tho, since REDFOR is easier to find games for in sim.
One “error” (or poorly worded section) is the “max lock angle before launch” stated to be 120°. Its 120° total, ±60° is the actual angle off centerline.
