6x MICA IR on a Rafale using the datamined MICA IR model. A little peek of what we might see in the game one day.

May I ask, if the drag is higher currently? (Like R-27ER and ET) And by how much?

Visual model only

As Mig23M said, only the IR model can be displayed, the stats for the missile is still not available.

But, if we look at the R-27R/T and the R-27ER/T, the drag difference between the radar and IR variants can be referenced.

The IR variants of the R-27 series have a 27% higher drag coefficient even though they have different calibers and length, so the 27% is a reliable number.

Currently the MICA EM has a drag value of 1.85.
The MICA IR is then expected to have a drag value of 2.36 while maintaining the same mass and thrust of the MICA EM. So it’ll be fairly simple for me to make a very realistic MICA IR to playtest with.

Something worth stating, MICA IR is going to have less kinetic range than the R-27ET just like how the MICA EM would have less kinetic range than the R-27ER, but it’s a lot more usable for a missile that weighs you down a lot less.

I expect MICA IR to have a kinetic range similar to that of R-24T.

Man, I wish the IR ranges were fixed for afterburning targets. Otherwise, MICA IR will have the same fate as the R-27ET, unable to lock fron-side aspect targets to utilize its full kinematic performance and forced to side-rear aspect shot if the range is high

It won’t have the same fate. It has LOAL+Datalink+IOG, meaning that you can launch it and guide it in TWS, and itll glide until the IIR seeker locks on. Currently IIR seekers are able to lock onto planes at 8km regardless of if they’re afterburning or not, you can see this with SPIKE and Pars 3 missiles which have IIR and can lock any tank, planes or helis at 8km.

Long story short, you’d be able to launch it in TWS at 40km away in-game, do a 180 running away, and it would hit.

If LOAL is implemented, then I guess ye

And? İt doesnt mean anything in slightest.

İ was there when Rafale discussion started on old forum and ever since that i kept following and participating in this discussion.

Then you joined us longer ago as I implied in my first reply. Which is fair enough.
It’s nice we continue to have agreement on things.

We dont.

You claimed that i just joined Rafale community while i basically explained i was already here.

Not the same thing.

I never said you just joined.
In-fact I implied that you could’ve joined us long ago, which includes years.

You even replied to the post.

İn your first post you only said:”Glad you joined us” which basically says you just welcomed me, after that you edited your first post and added new context.

İ mean at least be honest and accept the fact that you made a mistake once buddy, its not that hard.

Dude, not sure why you’re starting an argument with people you agree with…
I’ll keep being honest as always. There’s no mistake in my post tho.
