You’re missing the part where the missile is coded to self destruct at 50KM. The missile actually has good kinematics. The issue of the 80km max range is worthless tho so this thought experiment means nothing.
My best shot with MICA is 50 KM, here is because the target was oblivious J-11 that I assume very slow, that’s why the MICA can catch up.
Just for reference ofc, this was done in 25 April 2025.
And I must say, this was pretty rare and not as usual as I have done in Typhoon with AMRAAM.

Well Rafale uses feet and not meters, when someone asked if the HUD is 42,000 feet, the official French air force squadron confirmed yes.

The HUD shouldn’t be in feet, but should be in meters instead. It’s just not fixed yet

The TTW diff in game of both aircraft its not that big. Like 0.03 or smh. While Close coupled canards should totally give it a edge to the rafale. Canards on Eurofighter are bad for maneuverability.

Thing is, you are also forgetting the primary source that MICA VL can still get to 30G at least 12km. Although the MICA VL is not in game, it can be simulated by very slow flying rafale. Currently it does not pull nearly as much at those distances. Also, since MICA VL can fire both EM and IR, it could be argued that the 30G figure should be achieved by the IR, but let’s give the benefit of the doubt and say only the EM (with better aero) can do that for now

iirc the canards of the EFT are to give it some post stall performances, while the rafale should instead give more lift before stall

Any idea what config this aircraft was in?
The hate on jane’s is very much warranted considering they get so many things wrong… They are not a serious source to me. Just look at their talking about the f-14… can’t even get conversions from imperial to metric right and constantly confuse them, get wrong azimuth for radars, etc.
Probably 2 to 4 mica max and maybe 1 central or 2 wing fuel tanks (sub or supersonic), that’s their usual peace equipment
