Micas are slightly harder to notch than other fox-3 missiles
This is because the speed gate got reduced, which means that when nothing micas you need to be closer to flying perfectly 90° to notch the missile than with the Amraam or r77 for example
Keep your altitude and get a position above the furball that forms during the match, radar will be good to have the enemies displayed and make the 8 mica’s rain from above. I use this strat with the su30 already and it works really well, in that 15/18km range the missiles will have a higher chance of getting to their targets, especially when your micas come from almost a perpendicular angle.
If this strat works well in the Su-30 I can imagine it would also work really well in the Rafale, considering the better kinematic capabilities and defensive abilities of the jet.
Thats pretty much what i do yeah, i rarely get below 2k because the rafale turns into a spaceship at altitude and you literally outrun anything shot at you, its nuts.
also i forgot to add that the at range its easy to notch MICA’s, but close range? yeah forget it theyre impossible to dodge.
I think my initial post was clumsy, i shouldve edited to say that the MICA’s feel inconsistent at times, theyre not bad, just a bit… disappointing sometimes?
new to the rafale forum, is anyone trying to do anything about the unrealistically high thrust the rafale has been given after the release of the hornets sting update?
The rafale has been tuned by the devs according to specific data charts and is mostly respecting them. However, because supersonic drag and delta wings aren’t modeled all that well in game, the devs probably had to increase the thrust at above Mach 1.2-1.4, which might be somewhat unrealistic, but that’s simply a trade off to make it as accurate as possible according to the datapoints given
if its unrealistic yeah. the french stuff being artificialy buffed to unreasonable performance is wrong
besides the FM and thrust add the IR Hammer overperforming to it
like they already said the thrust of the Rafale is to high at certain points.
Besides the A2G armament of the Rafale the AASM Hammer IR is overperforming, it is not meaned for moving targets. What we found out is that the IR seeker only activates 2km before impact and seems to only take 2 picture shoots to correct flight paths.
Its mostly meaned for slow moving targets and correction of stationary targets where gps jamming might be used.
It should work like a worse Penguin missle if i remember right, and The laser variant was used to only hit target that drive slower then 50km/h i think it was as well. Which would be more precise then the IR variant
I understand your point but you have to remember that if we ever decide to make ir seeker more realistic, it would also affect tv seekers like the walleyes or the kh 29 family or fnf gbu and early maverick version since they aren’t able to track moving targets either
i wouldnt realy care and i dont know enough about those missles either.
I can only tell you the situatiom about the AASM Hammer and how some french members were very dishonest about its capabilities, taking sources out of context, releasing sources only partialy and hiding important information.
With all that stuff they even wanted to try argue that their IR seeker is better then MMW ones.
How all that relates to other fnf armament i dont know, i am only aware about the circumstances of this specific one
