Dassault Rafale - Variants, Characteristics, Armament and Performance

Indian are paying $110 million per Rafale (in fact the Indian deal of 7.87 billion Euros put Rafale per unit cost at 242 million Euros (including training, equipment and spares)
Typhoon was offered to for $95 - $115 million per Typhoon.

The cost difference is pretty minimal

was talking unit cost for the country of origin tho
The Rafale costs 70-80M€ per unit to the French forces
Oh but the Typhoon is cheaper per nation because it’s a collab… alr then. Tho the operating cost is still lower for the Rafale

France also ordered more Rafales, the whole Navy air wing, Airforce/Spaceforce operate the Rafale in the region of 230+ airframes
Typhoon the RAF has 120Ish, I do wish the RN had at least considered the Navalised Typhoon, Instead of F-35!

Both are premium aircraft and you will pasy a premium to have them in your Airforce/Navy :)

Yeah Imo Britain made a huge mistake by buying the F-35B, buying foreign aircrafts instead of domestic designs really harms the national aircraft industry… Should’ve done like France and made everything domestically. Btw did you know the French navy really wanted to buy hornets at first before they received the Rafales, because they trusted the hornet more? The Rafale was forced onto them but then they realized it was great…

I did the French Navy wanted those Hornets badly.
I believe the Rafale was rushed into service missing A2G modes to stop the Navy from pursuing it further.

We were this close > < from having the hornet in the French tree in 2nd line
Makes me think, we really should get Rafale M F.1 in second line

Having the hornet in your tech tree isn’t a good thing

The hornet is a pretty limited airframe with alot of issues

Thankfully we didn’t get the F18, the Rafale just make more sense overall. But those poor marine guys had to endure the prehistorical Crusader way too long.

I fully agree, tho the Rafale M is much needed and I doubt it’s coming anytime soon

Yeah lol

i dont think that the rafale M would bring anything to the game over the one we have in game

correct me if iam wrong, but wouldnt be the Rafale M just be more or less a heavier version with worse flight performance?

True but the Rafale M has the F1 standard which would be so cool to have in game

And also is the only rafale to operate the Exocet

I mean, there is no reason we can’t have exocet on other rafales variants no ? It’s just that marine nationale needs it since they operate in a maritime environment. So we would most likely end up with all the rafale able to use it as those would be compatible.
Just if gaijin does more specific gamemode with like spawn on carrier a rafale m would make more sense.

Only the Rafale M operates the Exocet in the French Air Force. I don’t know if the other rafales have been qualified to use it.
Also, the Rafale M only has one central hard point, while the other rafales have 2 (but only the main one is used for fuel tank or large weapon)

All Rafale can use AM.39 post F.3.

I hope they do! I want cold war era Naval conflict so badly!

Indian one might get BRAHMOS, Tejas is undergoing configurement

No idea how credible the integration of astra mk1 is but at least seems like that rafale’s fuselage will be built in india with the new contract as lot of articles are mentionning it.

A good amount of things are planned, like SPICE bomb series (I assume mainly 2000), ASRAAM/NGCCM, which is a B6 ASRAAM (just locally made), and as you already said the Astra
